Pours black with a light tan head. BIG coffee nose, roasty malt, notes of smoke. Coffee flavors dominate, roasty malt. Medium carbonation, full body.

Bottle served in snifter: pours mar opaque with an initial frothy tan head which faded, pretty good lacework. The aroma has notes of espresso and powered cocoa, bready, charred and roasty. Some leathery and tar esters along with some grassy, catty and herbal hops vapours. The taste is pretty much what you expect, not overly sweet thanks to the bitterness of the coffee and hops. Still, I would have like to see some more dark fruit or caramel sweetness to counter the coffee character. Seems a tad thin on the palate for an Imperial of 9% ABV but that is often the case with coffee stouts... a bit ashy and metallic as well. Overall I like this beer but somehow still left wanting a tad more. Majin (256) - West Des Moines, Iowa, USA - DEC 19, 2012
Chocolate espresso aroma, funky at first. Dark pour, low head. Smooth finish almost reminds me of chocolate milk with Khalua

22 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Dark brown to almost black pour with a frothy khaki head. Mocha and roasted coffee aromas. Very nice and smooth coffee and chocolate flavor. Hard to believe this weighs in at 9% as nothing from the warmth or taste prepares you for it. Well done. italianjohn (3163) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2012

Shared from a brown bomber bottle into a nonic pint glass. It poured an opaque black color, reddish-brown at the edges, with HUGE everlasting beige foam and Belgian lace. Aromas of espresso, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, cocoa nibs, sweet malts, Russian brown bread, fruit-cake. Flavors of chocolate-covered coffee-beans, caramel, toast, roasted barley, black plum sauce, sticky-toffee pudding, wild cherries, with a subtle and tangy hops balance. Medium body and carbonation, chewy mouthfeel, complex lingering aftertaste which eventually finished dry with a crisp snap. WOAH, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DELICIOUS! I absolutely did not expect such a sublime experience. Well done, New Belgium, keep it up! JLLSU (238) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Bomber----> nonic. Pours a deep black with a thick, creamy, one finger tan head. Smells heavily of quality ground coffee. Taste is dominated by coffee with slight chocolate and cream. Palate is a bit thinner than I would have expected, but not embarrassingly thin. Really dig this beer. ellolovey (483) - Georgia, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Bomber. Pours a midnight black with a mocha colored frothy head. Sticky lacing. Aroma of fresh brewed coffee, hints of chocolate, and coffee grounds. Taste like fresh coffee with lots of sugar. Nice creamy mouth-feel. Very earthy and fresh. Dark coca on the backbone with a slight boozy taste. Finish taste like bitter coffee grounds. Linger a bit too long. Tap at speakeasy. Darker brown with a tan head, sticky lace. Nose is a really nice fresh coffee, cocoa, and cream. Flavor is similar but it’s a bit too sweet in the flavor and on the palate. Still, one of the better bastardized beers I’ve had from NB. poisoneddwarf (2570) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours dark dark brown to near black with a medium tan head that leaves some lace. Aroma consists of malted chocolate milk balls, espresso. Taste starts out sweet like mocha coffee before turning bitter in the finish. The chocolate and coffee flavors are pronounced. Mouthfeel is velvety; body could be a little fuller. Nice coffee beer.
