COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Terroir is a French term meaning Of the Earth. Used to reference the environmental conditional that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

Cloudy amber-orange body, inch of off-white foam, stray lacing. Peach, orange, mango, wet hay, light oak. Medium bodied, moderate acidity and sourness. Pleasant but not complex.

Bomber. Lordy, this is a sour one. Not slightly tart, but lemon-licking sour. So sour you can only sip it. There are American hops in the background, and they blend well enough you cant tell where the bugs end and the hops begin. Im not sure if the wooden barrels are supposed to provide oakiness (none detected) or are just the vessels for the lacto. Well crafted brew, but for the devotee of sour beers only.

It pours light golden with a bit of orange. The is a white head that doesnt have very good head retention. It has an earthly aroma with wood mixed in. There are some mango aromas that complement the earth and wood. There is a subtle sourness around the nose as well. It is moderately sour with mango and peaches complement by the wood and earthly elements. There are also oranges in the background notes. It has a moderate feel. The beer causes a certain tart puckering to it that is pleasant and not overdone. The tart finish is rather long lasting. Overall, this is a fruity sour ale with peaches and mango taking center stage with a complex combination of the wood and earthly elements into a pleasant sour/tart finish.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the Distillery Bar in Savannah, GA. The appearance is a yellow to orange color with a small white head. The aroma is a great blend of hops and fruit. The taste is hops with some fruit and is very sour.

2016 versie.

On tap today and One stop during New Belgium tasting. Hazy light amber pour. Aroma is sour, citrus, fermented stonefruits, funk. Taste is sour, lemon, cellar, musty, funk. Finishes crisp and sour and surprisingly kind of bright. Good.

The Sampler, NYC tap: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is vinegar, citrus, some funk. Taste is fairly sour, but not in a way that wrecka the palate. Nice bit of citrus fruitiness. Fairlybeasy to drink.

Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is green apple, hay, barnyard, vinegar and light citrus. Taste is sour with underlying sweetness. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and some stickiness on the finish. Overall this is a great sour that drinks way to easy.

2016 bottle. Huge acidic nose, haystack and funky, with gorgeous lacing on the pour. Uber-tart front with a rich, acidic middle and a lingering woody fade. Some vanilla, some floral notes, but mostly pucker. Oh, the pucker. God, this beer is as brilliant a yearly sour as we can get. Yum.
