22oz served into a Duvel tulip. A - Pours a brassy amber with 2 fingers of cream colored head. The head maintains well and forms a thin ceiling. Very little lacing. S - Spicy Belgian yeast, pears, peaches, lemon, hay, green apples, banana taffy, fruit bread, caramel malt. T - Stone fruit upfront-mainly peaches, candy sweet malt, hints of banana taffy, biscuity, peppery alcohol hits towards the end. Finishes wet for a Saison. M - Prickly carbonation, light alcohol heat, heavy bodied. It reminded me of peach cobbler. It was pretty sweet and didn’t really finish dry enough. I wouldn’t seek this one out. Pours to an orange body with a fully dissipating off white head. Aroma of white pepper and dank basements. Sweet prickly pear on the nose too. Dash of cardamom. The flavor is quite sweet. Similar to red raspberries with prickly pear cactus juice. Almost a fruity bubblegum. Medium body. Lingering sweetness.

Bottle from BevMo: The liquid is a simple golden honey color while a firm development of head quickly thins out on top. In the aroma, it definitely packs a punch of spicy Belgian yeast true to the farmhouse style. There is also a notice of succulent ripe fruit in the nose such as pear, banana, and perhaps mango. The drink is fruity yet delivers a heavy dashing of spice making this a sweet and peppery combination of flavors that stays true to the Belgian sasion style but still having an American twist of things.

I was not very impressed with this beer. It had a very light mouth feel for the abv and overall did not go down to smooth.

Tap at Alchemy. Orange-red, thin oily head. Rather mellow in terms of body. Some odd pungent blood orange tones. Pear, spices, golden malt tones, a hint darker. More in line with a spice bomb than a traditional Saison. Smooth body, a touch mineral. The pear is mellow, but steady. Sweet, not tart. Unique, enjoyable.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours a cloudy orange-gold color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet fruit and biscuit malt. Medium body with flavors of tropical fruit, yeast and bready malt. The finish is fruity with a pineapple aftertaste. Decent overall.

Light haze on this amber beer, short white head. Crispy dry palate. A little dry malt. Okay fruits, a little tangy - somewhat lost among the minerals and dryness. Okay.

December 28th, 2011 - Now here are some flavors I haven’t seen packed into a bottle of beer before. It feels weird to be tilting back tropical flavors in the space between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but the unique tastes of this beer do it justice, making it a drink for year-round good cheer. A clear beer with a healthy golden glow and heavy carbonation, the Prickly Passion Saison is dressed for summer and spring. Its perfume of choice is light and sweet and even puffed, marked by bubble gum, lingonberry, and of course, the rich but fruity creaminess of braised pear. The flavor features more sweet apple and light saison grains on an incredibly delicate palate. This beer feels "fragile", almost so much that the body is flat. Pear appears in the taste too, but it is much stickier and borders on cloying. The fruitier and less candied pear like in the aroma appears in the long aftertaste, where it adds layers of cotton candy and jasmine flowers. In other words, this beer blossoms after the sip is done and is worth patient sipping for full appreciation.

Ral. rare beer fest. Not a big saison fan but I needed a change of pace. Too sweet/sugary for my taste but thats coming after BBL beers. Might not be a fair shake of the beer but my first impression.

Bottle shared by Sumner. Thanks man. The beer is clear and golden orange hued with a small head that fades rapidly. The aroma offers dank hops, earth, fruit, alcohol. The flavor offers fruity hops and booze. Not too good. A few ounces of this beer is more than I need. Out of balance. Low carbonation with too much alcohol in the flavor. No thanks.
