Tap at Rackhouse Pub - okay, so this is in no way a saison - kind of like a tripel, I guess - thick and sweet, almost syrupy - a bit of tropical fruit character, like overripe apricot and mango - lightly phenolic - a lot of alcohol heat - messy - not very good, and kind of a crime to call it a saison.
22oz bottle -
Aroma - vegetal, light fruit, bread/yeast and really light citrus
Appearance - clear golden orange body, 2-finger white head, average retention, no noticeable lacing
Mouthfeel - medium-full bodied, medium carbonation, astringent
Flavor - fruity and earthy, almost like some really overripe fruit nearing spoilage. Straw and light spice, finishes with a light malt sweetness.
Overall - for what you get it’s definitely overpriced. I’ve had prickly pears before and to me it doesn’t have a defined flavor and I couldn’t really get any p/p in this beer. slowrunner77 (11930) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 27, 2014
"a nice saison...kind of a strnage choice for a winter brew, though. spring, or maaaaybe summer sould work. nice mix of saison funk & spice, and fruit, in the aroma and flavor. good beer, but for $9, there’s better out there. dry, fruity, spicy finish. medium-heavy feel for the style." I thought I was smelling a sour when I took my first wiff along with some sweetness. Clear, light copper/amber color with a white head. There’s definitely a sour component to the flavor, but the malt sweetness balances it nicely. Earthy, mushroomy bitterness along with a lemony tartness. The sour earthiness really builds on the back of the tongue. I had this on ice so it got colder as I tasted and I think colder is better in this case. The sweetness comes out more but also the sourness is tamed a bit. Nice twist on a Saison. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - MAY 2, 2014
[Tap] Clear orange pour with lively carbonation but only faint wisps of foam. Nose is of sweet melon, citrus and peach. Taste includes pear, grass, light funk, yeast spiciness and Belgian grains. Comes together pretty well. Sticky palate with some alcohol coming out as it warms. Tasting notes from 12/2011. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - APR 28, 2014
22oz aged bomber poured into my New Belgium glass. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a thick off white head that leaves good lacing. Smells off passion fruit and Belgian yeast and prickly pear. Tastes of the same things in the smell with slight oxidation and a little Belgian candi sugar. Mouthfeel is thin and lightly carbonated with a semi dry finish. Probably sat on it a little too long but according to other reviews it was pretty mediocre anyways. Pretty much had all the same flavors mentioned on the bottle. I was expecting a little more being its from the Lips of Faith series.

Bottle. Pours fairly clear orange with a medium sized white head that dissipates far too quickly. The aroma is very fruity: guava, papaya, orange peel, and probably passion fruit. The taste has an initial zip that makes you think saison and the dry finish. Between there is a ton of sweet orange and tropical fruits. This is pretty solid but unspectacular. Should be drier. Taster on tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Clear golden color. Little white head. Some ropes and dots of lace. Big belgian yeast character dominates the flavor. Aside from that, passion fruit, and belgian candy sugar. Stronger sweet taste, light spice. Kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Alright fruit saison. A bit too fruity, I think... I expect better from the Lips of Faith series hopdog (12451) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 15, 2013
22oz bottle. Poured a golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Fruity, herbal, and one I just all around really didn’t care for ... Concealer (1245) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 9, 2013
Two. Golden orange with off white head. Smells of sweet fruit, spice, and booze. Flavor is sweet pear, spice, booze. Solid Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2013
December 2011. 22 oz. bottle. Amber color with a white head. Spice, yeast, malt and fruity aromas. Flavors of light fruit, peppers and spice. The tropical fruit doesn’t show well. Slight tart on the finish.
