In a never-ending quest to create new beers and defy category, New Belgium Brewing and Brewerij Boon of Belgium have partnered together again to create Transatlantique Kriek - a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries. This authentic kriek beer began life in the oaken vessels at Frank Boon’s brewery in the Lembeek region of Belgium. After more than two years aging, Boon’s offering shipped across the Atlantic and found its way to the intuitive palate of New Belgium’s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert. After much sampling and internal consultation, Peter and his brew staff created a full-bodied golden lager to round out the light-bodied kriek. The cherry nose gives way to a pleasingly sour flash across the palate that rolls gently into a slightly sweet finish. Crisp, effervescent carbonation keeps the mouthfeel bright and delightfully tingly. Previously 6.3

ACHops (1688) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2018
On tap @ Toronado Seattle. Pours clear bright ruby red with thin lacy white head. Aroma is tart fruity cherries, dry slightly musty aged note on the back. Taste is similar - juicy, cherries, oaky, dry. Fairly thin body, clean finish. Not super boozy. Solid kriek.

Purplish colour, hazy, light purple head. Cherry jam, some light barrel, are the focus of the aroma. Tart, bit yoghurty and a touch of woody dryness. Lots of cherry, on the palate it is again quite jammy. Finishes sweet-tart, again the cherry is fairly strong and a bit candyish. Solid.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 2 Sep 2017) Ruby red colour with frothy, off-white/pinkish head. Fruity, sourish nose with cherries, almonds and cranberries. Fruity, tart taste with notes of cherries, cranberries, pomegranate and a balanced tartness in a dry finish. Almost full body, quite dry. Really tasty, with lots of fruit character and a fresh tartness. Very nice.

Marmeladiger Geruch. Frische Kirschnoten, geringe Säure, zunehmend trocken. Intensiv kirschiger Mittelteil, rund fruchtig, langer Nachhall. Vollmundig, rund, lecker! 10/12/11/10/12/12

From Feb 2006 Poured from bottle a very nice ruby red witha smallish head that dissipates quickly leaving just a fine semi layer with some lacing. The smell is of cherries...sour cherries. Nice. The taste is also of sour cherries but it's mixed with a citrusy bitterness that mixes nicely with the cherries and makes the beer pretty darned drinkeable. Bottom line: I've had this quite a few times in the past and shame on me for waiting to review it *after* it was dropped from the line. This bottle says best by 15 March 2005 and it *may* have suffered a little when compared to a fresh sample but dang it, it's still a good drinker(hence, if you see it, do not be afraid to buy it) and I will miss it.

Bomber, 2017 vintage. Sweet cherry aroma with notes of tart cherry, oak and some wheat malt. Pours deep red colored with a thin white head that has little retention or lacing. Starts with sweet cherry flavors as well as some wheat malt and acidity. Finishes dry, but quite smooth with tart cherry flavors and some oak. Quite nice.
