COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This wild Colorado version of the Belgian Dubbel ropes you in with clove and dark fruit aromas. Deeply rich and malty, every sip has a creamy texture true to Belgian tradition before it rides off with hints of black pepper and cinnamon from the addition of shisandra berries.

Sample at SBWF ’14. Bottle. Almost clear brown liquid with small white head. Aroma of light vinegar, dried fruit, red berries, raw sugar and grain. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of dried fruit and light vinegar. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Not that good...

Brilliant amber pretty fine and frothy persistent lightly resinous foam. Definitely strange. Tobacco aromas, books, woody, viney, port, red grapes, finishes sweet and lightly astringent

Mahogany. Aroma of vegetables, cinnamon and pepper. Off putting. Flavour is much better, malty with some spices and berries. Not bad, but the aroma killed me.

Taster at brewery. Pours dark brown with a brown head. Not getting much on the nose. Has a bit of a berry thing on the tongue. Finishes clean. Hides it’s alcohol well. I can’t say I’m blown away by this one.

22oz bottle, from Dutch’s. Clear dark red, kinda brown color. Pours with a big khaki head. Leaves good thicker lace. Nice clove in the smell, reminds me of a hefeweizen. Dark fruit and spice in the flavor, some banana. Get some flavor of berry of some kind. Maraschino cherry. Pretty nice. Medium to bigger body. Good kinda full mouthfeel. Smooth lighter kind of soft carbonation. Just a light spicy roughness. More dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light bitterness. Kind of spicy in the finish. Solid, interesting, fun stuff to try. Tasty one to sip, reasonably smooth and easy drinking. Nice fruitiness.

Fizzy yet very smooth texture. Feel is very good. Strong head retention, nice mahogany color. Flavor is bubble gum yeast with a cinnamon follow up. Malty and yeasty in the nose as well. Pleasant brew."
