Yuzu is a strange fruit- citrusy and bold. Those three words: strange, citrus and bold are the perfect beginnings for a great beer. So, our brewers paired yuzu with the sourness of a Berlinerweiss to create this beerlicious Yuzu Berlinerweiss. Brewed with pale malt and wheat this Berlinerwiess was acidified with Lactobacillus for a light, dry mouthfeel and tart refreshment. Hazy and straw-colored, the yuzu fruit brings a tropical charm to a traditional beer.

On tap at New Belgium. Appearance: small white head, yellow color, cloudy, poor to moderate lacing. Aroma: light citrus, wheat, fruity. Palate: light body, average carbonation, sticky texture. Taste: sweet with very light tartness. Overall, nothing amazing, but unique and decent balance.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Pours a hazy light citrus yellow. Aromas of wheat , lacto and citrus. Flavor is muted but is akin to a lighter citrusier blue moon. Not awful. But not spectacular.

Tap at Town Hall Lanes. Semi-hazy golden pour with a white head. Fruity sweet nose and taste. Slightly tart, slightly dry. Seems to take care of a salt craving too. Decent brew.

One of the best of the series for me no doubt! Pours deep straw somewhat cloudy with a creamy white head. Aroma is awesome, tart and some green ale sweetness up front and then funk that blend so well. Flavor brings some tartness and light tang, but not big like the aroma. Lacto is much nice in the nose, underdeveloped in the body. The tang could have been enhanced by the yuzu.

Draught at Churchills Pub & Grille, San Marcos. Clear yellow beer with a decent white head. Sourish fruity aroma, salty, grass, citrus, grapefruit, some mango. Sweetish fruity aroma, grassy, oranges, some citrus. Rather sweet and thin.

No retention and no lacing. Smells of lemon zest, orange sour fruits. Tastes of grapefruit, tart lemon and citrus. No aftertaste. Do not like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours cloudy pale brown orange with 2 finger head. Nose is musty lemony citrus, zest, grain. Taste is muddy overripe citrus fruit, faint cereal grain, a touch of bile. This has almost no tartness whatsoever, contrary to the intended style. Finish is weird rotten fruit, cereal. Strange.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7879) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2014
From the April 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale yellow color with a small foamy white head that faded and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy banana with a tart and chalky undertone. The flavor was tart, dry and chalky with some artificial banana and a bit of bread. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

mikesaum (711) - Newark, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2014
Pours pale yellow, small fizzy white head. Aroma is slightly tart citrus, a bit funky, very fruity and refreshing aroma. Taste is sweet and tart orange and grapefruit, slight bitterness, mouthfeel is a bit oily. pretty good.

Cristobal37 (1154) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 1, 2014
Horrible. Smells like cat piss. Doesnt taste a whole lot better. Sour, carbonated, with a nasty stale finish. Yuzu tastes good on raw fish, but not in this weisse. Pass!
