Yuzu is a strange fruit- citrusy and bold. Those three words: strange, citrus and bold are the perfect beginnings for a great beer. So, our brewers paired yuzu with the sourness of a Berlinerweiss to create this beerlicious Yuzu Berlinerweiss. Brewed with pale malt and wheat this Berlinerwiess was acidified with Lactobacillus for a light, dry mouthfeel and tart refreshment. Hazy and straw-colored, the yuzu fruit brings a tropical charm to a traditional beer.

Hazy light tan colour, little bit of bubbly head. Aroma is a bit of footy yeast with a touch of indistinct fruitiness. The body is actually soft, sweet, with the lacto only showing up a bit late. The yuzu provides a nice little bit of refreshment as well. Not bad.

Pours a hazy gold with a nonexistent white head. Aroma of Granny Smith apples, olives and fruit. Flavour is light and of sour fruit and sweet. Body is medium and very refreshing. Finish is fruity apples and balanced.

A very mild aroma of citrus. A cloudy straw colour without much head. A peppery taste with a hint of fruit and citrus an oily feel with a spicy palate.

22 ounce bottle, packaged June 2013. Served in a goblet, the beer pours a hazy gold color with a half inch white head. Head retention is good, and theres a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is mostly fruity, theres a citrus-like aroma that Ill assume is from the yuzu juice. Theres also some citrus peel and apple cider noticeable. The taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some wheat/bready malt and a bit of peppery spice. Mouthfeel/body is medium, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Its also smooth and pretty easy to drink. I liked this brew, but I didnt think it was very tart at all. Still, its worth a try if youve never had it before. $8.99 a bomber.

Hazy orange pour with a white head. Straight up, this beer stinks. Like a sweaty gym bag. Flavor is nice with some citrus notes which was surprising considering how bad it smelled. It could have been more tart and I would have been fine with that. Ok, but this beer could have been so much better.

Cloudy glowing orange color. Smells fragrant like soap. Very citrus wheat taste missing some of the expected sour.

The appearance has a super light golden yellow colored body with a thin half fingered white foamy head that dies within less than a minute. Lacing is somewhat light and clings in a speckled sort of a messiness around. The smell is basically soured grapefruit and light orange coming through in a sour/somewhat tart kind of way, yes my nose is bothered by this and though Im not entirely into this style, I understand that my nose is supposed to be bothered or at least "annoyed" (sorry for lack of better words) by the style. The taste has a strong sour/tartness thing going on with a decent sweet fruity backing coming in to balance it a bit. There is a dry grapefruit/orange aftertaste with a super dry finish. On the palate, it sits light, fairly sessionable, with a nice refreshing quality to it (why am I having it this time of year, oh yeah, its from June 2013, ha, no worries). There is not as much sharpness or harshness as expected from other Berliner Weissbiers Ive had, but am I complaining - heck no way - not from this guy. Overall, hmmm...to me I think I would have this one again, but Im nowhere close to being someone who knows Berliner Weissbiers well. Unsure, but I am unsure if I would have this again.

Clear yellow with a light head. Weird mouth feel with hay and citrus up front and a hollow feeling at the end. Interesting beer.

bottle. Golden with one finger head. The yuzu flavor is unique. A little more sweet and tropical than lemon. Most Berliner Weiss are light, and while this isnt quite syrupy, its not light either. Seems a tad overdone as a result.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2015 Sample pour from bottle of hazy straw yellow with white head that dissipates to a halo and a hazy lacing on top of the beer. Loads of citrus and orange but not a ton of bitterness. Light tartness but faint and more noticeable citrus flavors. Definitely noticeable alcohol that isnt pleasant to me. 19062015 5oz sample pour. Crisp light yellow pour, white head. Nose comes through tart, citric, light. Flavor follows with a fruity note up front and tart finish, light and refreshing. Crisp and drinkable for 8% 04032014
