22 oz bottle - pours cloudy orange-brown-red with bubbly white head, medium volume. Big fragrant nose of plum, dates, vanilla, cherry and malt. Taste is vanilla sweet, dark fruits, grain and cookie notes. Medium body, sticky finish, bit of cocoa at the end. Tap. Pours murky brown with average, creamy off-white head; decent retention and lacing. Aroma is figs, raisins, plums, woody notes, caramel, leather, dough, hops, and light spice. Flavor is heavy dough malts forward with supporting dark fruit esters, floral and grassy hops adding a touch of bitterness, dry wood, and faint yeast; dry, bready finish. Picked up tonight at Brewforia Meridian on the way home from work for $6 ... Poured into my HotD goblet... the light tan head dies back pretty quickly leaving fantastic lacing... the brew is clear chestnut brown.
Nose is not very "Belgian" ... A lot of something that I associate with vanilla... Light coffee... sorta plummy element... smells more sweet than malt prevalent..
Flavor has some minor Belgian qualities... a sorta peppery and lesser background clovey spiciness... with warmth a minor cigar wrapper emerges... so does plenty of alcohol... really too sugary sweet and not enough malt profile..
Carbonation and body are about right for the style...
All and all... Not bad... just not great.

OK, so I was excited about this beer. The bottle says they use dates and coffee beans... but you never smell nor taste either. But let me start with the aroma. Urine. That is what this beer smells like. I am serious, this beer smells like urine. Glad it doesn’t taste like that. It has a nice flavor, a great thick mouthfeel, and a semisweet finish. Bomber poured a hazy amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas o carmel, earthiness, tobacco, mint, fruittiness and spice. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with two fingers of fine off-white head. Settles to thick pillowy cap with lots of thick lacing. Aroma is stone fruit with caramel malty tones and significant alcohol, hint of soap. Flavor is sweet up front, stone fruit and cherry fading into caramel finish with banana and alcohol tones. Nice flavors from the belgian yeast. Alcohol is quite noticeable but not necessarily unpleasant. That said, this is a strong beer. Soft carbonation, smooth texture, and medium light body. Draft. Cloudy brownish well water. Excellent lacing. Really tasty with a bit of alcohol burn. Looking forward to having more.
