From Feb 2007 Here's another brew I got in a trade with Wasatch! Poured from 12oz bottle a very nice amber gold with a medium head of foam that shrank fairly quickly leaving a fine layer with plenty of lacing. The smell is a mix of caramel malt and fruit and spices that is doing nice things to my nose. Hmm...I'm spending too much time with the glass to my nose on this one, me thinks. ;^) The taste has a strong dose of caramel malt but it's not overly sweet. Then there's a very nice kick of banana and dark fruit, mainly cherries and plum, that's hitting my palate just right and wait, there's also some biscuit notes..dang...this one is so flavourful, my taste buds are literally dancing in the streets! And yeah, there's some warming but it's not in the tasting at all, just when it goes down. Yummy and delicious, that's what it is. Bottom line: A *great* sipping Belgian Strong Ale. I'm glad I got this bottle in a trade as I tried a small sample at the brewery and I wasn't that impressed. As BA advises you, don't review a brew based on small samples and boy, is that ever true. I highly recommend this one!

Served in a 12oz tulip glass at Beer Revolution in Edmonton (New Belgium Tap Takeover) pouring a clear golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits and yeast with some grains. Taste is a light fruity and malty sweetness with a grassy and spicy hop bitterness with a dry yeasty finish. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a decent tripel style ale, but could use some more complexity.

Deep Red, clear, sediment on bottom, great carbonation, light but not too fizzy, aroma of raisins and grapes balanced. Tast plum prune and malt balance. Perfect mouthfeel on the malty sweet backbone. Great brew

Rated on 7-13-2011. This bottled beer has a medium sized fizzy ivory head, copper transparent body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is malt, caramel and fruity. The taste is sweet, malt, caramel, fruity, and lightly tart. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. This is a very tasty beer with a nice warming effect. The various flavors blend together very well thus making for an enjoyable beer to drink and rate. It is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

22 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear amber brown color with a small quickly disappearing off white head. The aroma and flavor have an overall fruity character, raisins and dark fruits, yeast, caramel and additional sweet malty notes, alcohol is pretty well hidden, but does warm slightly.

(Backlog) 22 oz bottle. Brownish red in color with a light creammy colored head. The smell is yeasty, sugary, fruits, apples, estery. The taste is fruits, alcohol, yeast, very beligan. Good, but I was sort of expecting more.

22oz bottle, shared by somebody after Jackie-O’s 8th Anniversary.. Mostly clear dark brown, more red color. Thin off-white head. Couple loose dots of lace. Smooth, soft carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger body. More sweet in the end. Dark tropical fruit, light nuttiness, some toastiness, raisins. Ok grand cru. A bit soft, and bit hot. Not complex, all dark malt, lightly hot.
