Oh my God. It’s not only a reaction for drinking one of Dieu De Ciel’s beers, but a figurative translation of the Montreal brewery’s name. Just ask our brewmaster, he’s in heaven when drinking this collaborative tripel, inspired by Dieu De Ciel’s love of hibiscus and Belgians love of the obscure, hence our addition of tart feijoa fruit. Cheers!

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Sparkling light copper pour, soft medium thick white head with a slight coat of lacing. Aroma has a spicy tinge it with some odd, but pleasant fruitiness (must be Feijoa) which I understand is similar to guava. Flavor has a unique sweet and sour thing going on, some tart syrupy notes, some unique fruitiness that must be feijoa. Thickish mouthfeel. Reminds me of something that Dogfish Head would brew.

22. Pours a cloudy dark amber with bright medium amber edges and a dense and creamy tan head. Lots of sheeting lace. Big tangy floral and fruity nose, a little funky too. Smells pretty overripe--the floral notes are dense and syrupy, and the fruit has that pulpy decadent smell to it like it’s so ripe it’s going soft. The funk, well, that could be any of several factors I suppose. There’s a bit of egg yolk there. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Tastes like a mix of pink peppercorns, caramel syrup that got superheated, and some carbonic bite. Everything is trying to be louder than everything else in this beer, and it gets out of balance because of it. Knocking out that egg yolk and giving things some room to breathe instead of stepping all over each other would help a lot.

Bottle with a best before of March 2014. Pours with a clear golden orange hue with a medium sized, fizzy offwhite head that fades. Aromas are tart and slightly tropical, melon and papaya, peppery alcohol and phenol, dry apple and leather. Smells a touch sweet. Flavors are quite tart, grainy, fruity, hibiscus, melon, Belgian yeast. Quite a bit of acidity. Earthy and slightly waxy fruit flavors with noticeable alcohol. Lively carbonation, medium bodied with a tart finish. Not bad, I think it might drink a bit better than the score I ended up with.

Bottle.

Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.

Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), with notes of bubble gum, ammonia, detergent, cotton candy, pepper.

Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.

Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately alcoholic.

A horrible creation. Artificial and chemical nose is truly disgusting. Sour and dirty flavor experience almost prompts expectoration. Shows pretty much zero effort. Sheesh, how low can NB go?

Tulip at Global. This had so much going on in it. Funky notes, fruits that were all over the place, candi sugar, big malts, flavorful yeast, and a bit of oddness. I should give pineapple a special mention. Really interesting and the alcohol was not tasted.

Bomber. Poured a lovely shade of lighter orangey-golden with a shorter, spotty white head. The aroma picked up lots of tart berries and fruits plus floral notes over honeysuckle and a kiss of redder fruit meat.. more floral as it warmed up, along with a solid Belgian yeasty character. The flavor found tart berries and floral notes throughout.. fruit, honey, and bready notes supported.. finished with tasty, interesting tart fruit, clovey yeast, and building, honey-fueled warmth.. tasty and interesting. Medium-bodied with a good level of tartness on the palate.. a few too many sugars on the back, but it was still very enjoyable.

22 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a hazy copper with a thin ring of white foam around the edge of the glass. The aroma is definitely on the sweet side a little bit of tartness and herbal notes coming through as well. Taste is sweet, a little acidic, and bready. I do get a bit of alcohol burn toward the back end, but overall, this beer is pretty drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2013 22 oz bottle shared. Pours a copper color that?s pretty clear with a thin white head that?s not lasting. Smells like tropical fruit, earthy yeast, flowers and hay/grass. Light to medium body with a slick and thin texture. Tastes like tropical fruit with a medium sweetness and mild tart flavor. Then comes a bit of yeast and finally a lightly bitter dry finish.

Aroma is spices, a hard to describe fruit element and a nutty quality. The flavor is citrus, berries, spices, a mildly grainy texture, malts and a very tart finish.
