Draft. Dark purple maroon, small tan head. Aroma of raspberries and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet and slightly sour berries. Decent.

Raspberries! Even the head on this beer is pink with raspberries. Pours a medium dark red. Aroma is lots of raspberry punch. Taste is not overly sweet or syrupy as you might expect. It strikes a nice balance of sweet, tart, and brewed goodness. Finish is sweet and dry enough. Surprisingly good fruit brew.

On tap at Falling Rock. Pour is deep maroon with a fluffy pink head and great lacing. Big raspberry juice, strawberry, cranberries, biscuit, somewhat bready aroma. Taste is bitter raspberry peel, ocean spray, blueberries, somewhat stale fruit, biscuit, bread, and perfume with a lightly tart fruity finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Not terrible, but definitely a letdown for me and very artificial tasting.

Sample at the Secret Stash Bash. Dark red color with a small, very pink head. The aroma is intense raspberries, with some vanilla, resin, and caramel. Very sweet and tart, with just a touch of hop bitterness. Light to medium body, sticky, and astringent. Overall, this is a very aggressive fruit beer, with blunt fruit aromas and even colorful foam. I approve.

chinchill (5342) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 11, 2013
Served in a small nonic, the pour was a deep, dark red color, clear with a tan head that had a tinge of red and leaves behind splotchy, sticky lace.

S - Sour raspberry -- strong enough to mostly mask the malt flavors.

T - Sweet, but not objectionable. As anticipated from the nose, it is quite heavy on raspberry flavor. Minimal sourness, and a light malt background.

M - Near medium body has good feel and medium carbonation. The 8.5% ABV is not obvious.

O: very good dark fruit beer: easily recommended as a dessert beer.

On tap at Max’s (10/9/11): Pours an opaque black with dark ruby edges and a thin, stringy-lacing pink head. Has a fresh juicy tart raspberry nose with some black currant notes. Starts with good fullness and soft carbonation with a full sweet and tart raspberry flavor with some light vinous oak before a slightly drier sweet-tart finish. Has good raspberry flavor throughout.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - AUG 4, 2012
Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with garnet light shining through. One finger tall brown head with a pinkish tint. Smelled of distinct raspberry jam with a subdued dark chocolate note. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Raspberry/strawberry jam, subdued chocolate, and a bit of roasty malt.

slimchill (1044) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 10, 2012
Draught. Big, deep raspberry aroma. Sweet and sour and vaguely reminiscent of donuts. Beautiful bright purple with a thin white head and great lacing. Starts sweet, rolls into sour. Full flavored but straight-forward. All the sweetness dissipates by the end of the sip.

nuplastikk (6472) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 23, 2012
Draft at Dexters. Purple black, interesting purple raspberry head, creamy. Big rich dessert aroma, bold big raspberry tones. Very nice chocolate-raspberry beer. The juice certainly mellows out the whole affair, taking away from what must have been a viscous chocolate beer. Maybe a little too juicy. Still a really nice beverage, but after awhile just comes off as raspberry juice. A little more chocolate would be nice. The alcohol is well hidden. A cool, delicious concoction, but hardly a beer at this point.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2012 Location: Draft at Whole Foods-Lamar-Bar Lamar (Austin), 2/19/12

Aroma: This one has a rather fruity rasperry nose, some light yeast

Appearance: It pours a brown color, pink hue, pinkish beige head, spotty lace

Flavor: The taste of this one is sweet and fruit, with a light-mid tartness too

Palate: This one is medium bodied, lightly sticky on the mouth, with average carbonation

Overall Impression:
This was an alright fruit beer, but it is still a little too sweet and one-dimensional for my tastes.
