COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

12 oz. bottle - Pours a crystal clear copper color with a one finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is pine, resin, and light floral hops. Flavor is pine and floral hops, and toasted malt. Finish is fairly bitter, but doesn’t linger too long. Medium body. A good beer.

Not as bitter as some IPAs. On tap in Minneapolis at the Leaning Tower Pizzeria. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Pours medium orange and clear. Frothy, white, standing head. Nose is fresh spicy citrus up front with a heavy background of sweet fruity hops and some malt sweetness. Flavor is grapefruit rind blended with some mild caramel malts, bready malts, and all kinds of fresh fruit complexities. Smooth bitterness but starts to linger on your palate. Enjoyed this beer.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark gold color with nice clarity. The head is a nice-looking three finger offwhite shade. It has a good frothiness to it, and also retains very well. Plenty of lacing is left on the glass. S: I half-imagined this would be similar to a bigger version of Ranger, and the herbal hop tones mixed with biscuity yeast told me I was right. There’s something not entirely right sitting with me aromatically that I can’t put my finger on, so I’m docking points. T: I don’t like how the biscuity flavors interact with the hop profile; it almost creates a vague ammonia-esque flavor. Anyways, this unpleasant flavor fades away right before the middle of the brew, being supplanted with light piny qualities, a touch of citrus, and caramel malt. At first, I’m not enthused by the opening flavors, but they do fade away leaving a reasonable but unassuming DIPA. M: Dry and crisp. The finish washes away some of the less pleasant notes well, which helps inspire additional drinkability. This is probably the best feature. O: I was expecting an imperialized Ranger, and I got an imperialized Ranger...for better or worse. Like Ranger, I could see this one being significantly better on tap. The dry, easy drinking nature does an okay job of covering up its flaws, but there are still far superior options out there that you should pick up instead - and not even its price point can sway me otherwise.

Poured a big (too big) foamy head. Clear, medium straw colored body. Nice aroma of pine and lemon; a little blunted grapefruit. The taste is a dry pine bitterness throughout with an underlying sweetness that takes the edge off the bitter. Nice balance. The texture is crisp with low to moderate carbonation. Excellent.

Clear and tan, big white head that had good staying power. Nose has tons of sharp hops notes, very earthy, slightly solventy, slightly metallic. Flavor is intense bitterness, lots of strong hops flavor, some tropical fruit, plenty of earthiness, and again, a slightly metallic note. Body is dry, medium, with pretty good carbonation and a strong bitter finish. Overall it’s pretty good but doesn’t really stand out. The slightly metallic notes and intense bitterness without a lot to balance it out. It’s not something I can drink more than one of in a sitting.

Clear golden orange pour with a nice white head. Grapefruit, pine, and floral hops. Bright citrus, a touch of pineapple, and some pine. Lightly grassy and sweet. The flavor is dry and crisp with just a hint of bread sweetness. Grass, flowers, and lots of grapefruit zest. Some orange, pine, and a little bit of bitterness on the finish.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2013 Bottle. Crystal clear amber-yellow color. Pungent hop aroma, floral and almost perfumey with some cut grass. Great mouth feel. Tastes acidic with firm bitterness and resinous aftertaste. Its missing malt balance but otherwise a very good beer.

Had it on tap at World of Beer in Evanston IL. Poured an orange hue with even lacing. The aroma smelled like marijuana :) and the taste was hop bitter.

Bottle. I get floral and grapefruit. Dark golden with thin head and decent lacing. Flavor is sweet then bitter. Slick, moderate bitter finish.
