Bottled. Pours clear amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus, apricot, floral hops, caramel and pine. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry as bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice IPA. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Fruity aroma. Fruity and bitter taste. Good bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. Good beer slightly sweet at the end. Follow me @ Kung av l @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle, drunk Winter 2013.
Clear, copper-amber. Feeble off-white head.
Bready, grainy, lightly sour and oxidized, always oxidized....Stale hops add pepper and orange peel. Vanilla lingers...
Wow, this is an IPA? Even if you made the lame "But its an English IPA!" argument (which they dont even bother to do), this still wouldnt cut it. Just another bad amber ale-ish sort of thing from this horrendous brewery. Bready, oxidized, overcarbonated with fizzy carbonation. Poorly textured, not malty, etc...etc...etc...

On tap at Teds Montana Grill, NYC on 8-Nov-2016, served in a snifter. Clear pale amber colour with a medium sized white head which dissipated quickly. Aroma of citrus and pine. Medium body and carbonation. Taste of lemon, grapefruit caramel, malt and floral hops. Light, some bitterness, refreshing although pretty average.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy pale orange with a small white head. The aroma is full of hops and citrus. The taste matches the nose.

Working my way through the New Belgium oeuvre with Ranger. A 12 oz. bottle poured into a tall clear stein. Delivers a light head that is replenished by some active carbonation, leaves some nice laces later. Has a pretty, golden body enhanced by the streams of bubbles. Scent of citrus, not overpowering. The first taste is a spike of lemon and some following woodiness. The hops give way to a bitter finish. Pleasant but not enthralling. There are other readily available IPAs I will go to first. But I will certainly buy this again.

2015 BJCP Category: 21A American IPA

AROMA: Fairly strong citrusy hops; slight candy scent. Low, clean grainy malt aroma in the background. No alcohol, No grass. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Bright copper/pale orange hue; high clarity. High CO2 and large white froth. 3/3

FLAVOR: Solid pale malt base with strong, dank hop presence throughout. Caramel/candy sweetness up front immediately followed by drank resiny/piney hop flavor at the finish. Slight oxidation due age of bottle (which might account for pronounced sweetness). 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; medium-high CO2. Smooth, soft texture. Bitterness lingers into the aftertaste but without astringency. No alcohol presence. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: One of (if not THE) best mass-market IPAs. True to the style and highly enjoyable. 9/10

TOTAL SCORE: 43/50

NOTE: I am a rank-pending BJCP judge. I am reviewing commercial beer to BJCP specs to hone my judging skills.
