New Belgiums seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether youre pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

More Belgian Ale than saison, to me asnyway. Fruity esters and a little dusty. Dry finish. Not bad, but not a huge fan.

Bottle at my in-laws.

After a long day of air travel followed by a long drive, I needed a beer. And it seemed that I had two options: A Leinenkugel summery shandy (from last summer, or maybe much earlier), or a Sam Adams Winter Lager (Christmas spices!). I was going to go hunt around for an old bud light or something, when my father in law pulled a couple of these out of the downstairs fridge. I doubt Ive ever been so happy to see the words "New Belgium."

Now, its a not a great saison--probably not even something youd call a good one. Sort of classic American saison, esters forward, a bit sweet, yeasty, sticky with alcohol. But it was a real beer, and under the circumstances I was real happy to have it.

Moderate body, adequate mouthfeel, slightly ambivalent flavors, dry with some evidence of hops, lacking the robust fruitiness and spiciness and funkiness and fun of a proper saison. Bottle.

Pours hazy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is funky yeast, malt, saaz hops. Taste is surprisingly like a Pils with a decent yeasty finish. Good, satisfying mouthfeel. Good overall, but nowhere near the best Saison that Ive had. Tastes like an overly yeasty Pilsner.

Hazy lemonade with a nice white head. Bready, sweet spices, Belgian yeast aroma. Belgian yeast, spices, mild bitterness, mild malt taste. Not what I was expecting when I picked this saison up. Good beer

pale gold color, hazy, moderate carbonation. off-white head, not long lasting. aroma has herbal hoppiness, bit floral and spicy. flavor seems a bit too hoppy for the style. lightly sweet, but not a delicate beer.

Bottle, thanks in-laws! Straw hazy lemon yellow, little white head. Pleasant lemony yeasty aroma. Taste is surprisngly quite hoppy up front, giving way to lemon and citrus note and a really zesty finish. Very enjoyable to drink with alcohol well hidden. So fruity/citrusy. Well done.
