On tap @ Backcountry Pizza. Amber pour with a tall khaki head. Nose is tart vinegar, grape, and cherry. Charred oak, lemon, slight roast/smoke, and grass. Interesting. Flavor is really, really sour. Lots of vinegar, cherry, and grape. Balsamic, red wine, oak, and a slight smokiness. Lemon, a touch of sweetness, and green apple. Ratman197 (15094) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - OCT 8, 2013
On tap at Back Coiuntry Pizza poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of licorice, toffee, carmel and tobacco. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of toffee, tobacco, citrus and light licorice with a crisp dry lingering tart finish. beerbaaron (1998) - Arizona, USA - DEC 26, 2012

Deliciousness, I tell you. Sampled at Firkin Fest in St. Paul. Complex, flavorful, fantastic! JK (6230) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Hanger Room Firkin Fest, October 2011. I would call it a Flanders red. Lots of balsamic in the aroma and flavor. I agree with Nuffield that it is not an improvement on (a good batch of) La Folie, but it tasty on its own. No sweetness, but dry oak, and there is a mild anise character.

This is definitely not an improvement on La Folie--they’d be better off just leaving it as it was--but it’s an interesting variation/experiment with it. Nice dark color and the essential fruitiness and sour is retained. Drinkable, but slightly more aggressive. Black body with no head. Light sour aroma with faint green apple. Very acidic body with a mouth puckering g tartness. Faint lactic flavor on the finish.

On cask at the Draught House 42nd Anniversary Party.
I was really looking forward to this beer, but it was a big let down. The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is roasted malt with a little bit of tartness. The flavor is more of the same, with some brown sugar and roasted malt notes. I get a little bit of tartness, but it is nothing compared to the tartness that you get from La Folie. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
Not sure what the brewers were going for, but this beer doesn’t really do much for me. kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Dark brown, almost black ale. Small head. Tart belgian wheat aroma. Deli funky taste. Drys the back othe roof of the mouth out. Not sure what they werent thinking on this one.
