Snow Day is an incredible beer. It tasted like an amber to me, but creamier. K_Squared (25) - - JAN 10, 2013
Surprised at how smooth and pleasant this winter creation is. Not the typical "winter ale."

In as far as I have had a black IPA before, this beer shows a very high quality of craftsmanship and attention to the brewing process. First off, I was VERY pleased with the level of bittering hops (about a 6 on a 10 scale) and tho an IPA per se, it wasn’t as ’in your face’ hoppy as one would suspect. The aroma hops was extremely pleasing as there was a freshness either by the freshness of the hops or the dry hopping (not sure. hope both). In contrast, I can taste the presence of the malts -- chocolate and coffee which does balance out well with the level and aroma of the hops.
As a Winter seasonal, this is a very well done beer. ARMed (625) - Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Wow! What a great way to start off Thanksgiving! This is a dark brownish red brew with an excpetion light pillowy perfect think foamy head that lasts forever. Color is clear and bright with no cloudiness. When you hold it up to the light you can see the reddish hue. The appearance is perfect. The flavor is crisp with a slight licorice hop finish. The flavor is balanced with both the hop additions and the malty tatse of a nice proter. Not sure it can get much better than this one at a perfect holiday celebration or on a cold winters night in front of the fire eating the best filet you can find. dajobo (6) - - DEC 29, 2012 does not count
Wow, took me by surprise! The nose is incredibly hoppy! Wouldn’t expect an aroma like this from the color that it is. As far as an IPA drinker, this is incredibly balanced.

Really good hoppy aroma. Dark dark brown, off white head. Hoppy caramel taste when it’s cold its hoppy when it’s cool it gets sweet, a lil stouty. edraz (12) - Alabama, USA - NOV 16, 2011
Had this from a bottle at home. What a great surprise this was. Appearance was dark brown and aroma was light to medium hop. Just enough to please the happy beet lover in all of us. mnurda (1289) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - NOV 7, 2012

It pours dark brown with an attractive sugar cookie batter colored head of froth. Mouth watering aroma with notes of chocolate and rich malts. First sip. Wow. Toasted grain, caramel, chocolate, and malt. Really good. Medium body and carbonation, hoppy, with a nice bittersweet quality. The finish is crisp, refreshing, and ends with a nice lingering chalky dark chocolate finish. Great Brew for the price. Travlr (25876) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 8, 2011
Bottle. Very dark maroon color, large beige head, solid lacing. Aroma of fresh pine! Taste is burnt hops, grass, subtle burnt espresso. Very nice, and easy to drink. Great example of the style.
