Light, bright and easy drinking, now is your chance to drink in the festival season. First brewed to celebrate 40 years of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, it has since become Planet Bluegrass’ signature New Belgium offering (under the name Summer Bliss). This Summer Helles pours a brilliant gold, with soft, white foam. The aroma is fresh grains and honey with a spicy-herbal twang. This danceable lager carries the pleasant sweetness of pale and German Pils malts, and levels off with the light and noble bitterness of Hallertau and Tettnang hops. Summer Helles finishes crisp and dry, and is sure to refresh even the thirstiest reveler. Grab your banjo, crack a bottle and let the pickin’ shine.

Planet Bluegrass (located in Lyons, Colorado) was decimated by September 2013’s record flooding. New Belgium is donating $10,000 this year to Planet Bluegrass for rebuilding. You can help by volunteering or donating. Visit lyonsfightsback.com for more information.

Light straw color, white head dies quickly. Aroma is grainy, musty. Taste is grainy, a little bready. Great body for a lager like this. Overall a good lawnmower beer, but not great by any means.

May 20th, 2014 - Another seasonal some to San Diego, the New Belgium Helles. Light and golden and clear, it invites a cool drink on a sweltering day, a thin head leaving a thinner, bleached mustache. The aroma is light with a bit of clove and wheat, and the aftertaste is similarly svelte, just a dash of spice and witbier flavor, with a short aftertaste and a cloudy feeling palate.

Pretty bitter, funky smell. Not a fan. I would not buy this again. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is grass and floral. Taste is a metallic tartness. Light bodied, crisp and easy to drink.

BeerRenter76 (1053) - Texas, USA - JUL 13, 2015
Pours out a pale gold with a light haze. A good deal of bubbles in the body. Thin, white head. Smell is grainy, with some honey and faint fruit. Flavor is maltier than the smell would have you believe. There is a grainy character to it, but it isn’t too overbearing. Mouthfeel is prickly, spritzy, and light-bodied.

biirusaikou (2705) - - JUN 29, 2015
Draught at Mugishutei. Rich biscuit malt, decent grassy hoppiness, honey, dry finish. Not bad at all for a helles, quite smooth and refreshing.

GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - FEB 16, 2015
Clear yellow pour with a white head. Aroma malty with a hint of sweetness. Taste is a nice solid malt base. Refreshing smooth beer. Crisp finish. Malty aftertaste. so-so lacing.

drowland (9184) - Georgia, USA - FEB 6, 2015
12oz bottle from Warehouse or Five Points, summer 2014. Golden pour under a small off-white head, mild lacing. Grainy aroma, hay, straw, a bit of grass, a wisp of lemon. Bland flavor, but relatively inoffensive, malty, grainy, doughy pale malts, a bit of lemon, a touch sweet. Not bad.

Drjohnrock (841) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2015
Twelve ounce bottle from mix six pack purchased at Delhi Walgreens. Light yellow color with good clarity, aroma like a pale lager only better, light to moderate bittersweet flavor with some earthy malt character and a hint of lemon. Nice summertime drink. Tasted on July 4, 2014.

Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 10, 2015
A lightly hazed blonde lager with a thin white head. In aroma, biscuit aroma with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, light biscuit malt with grassy hops, light honey notes, OK.

DuffMan (10751) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 18, 2014
Bottle, found in the fridge at a friends Christmas party (score!). Medium yellow gold, average white head. Grainy aroma, a touch of bready yeast. Same on the palate, finishing with a whiff of green hop character.
