Sampled at NBB. Clear orange, frothy beige head. Aroma made me think OK wait a minute what is this? I got citrus, coconut, toffee, pineapple. Taste is also funky with the same notes, slightly bitter, pretty tropical overall. I tried and wanted to like it a lot, but I’m just not so sure I could drink much of it. luttonm (6559) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 7, 2010
Draft at Brouwers in Seatle. Skunky-salty sour nose. Tropical citrus notes, hazy amber pour. Oddly candy sweet, mulled sour. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 29, 2010
Tap at Beveridge Place. Poured a red brown with a modest beige head. Both the rye and juniper flavor come through well on the aroma. This is the only juniper beer I’ve had where the juniper really makes itself noticed. This has a nice balance between a dry, zippy spicy maltiness and a mild fruitiness. Unique and easy to drink. gracefullypunk (667) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 22, 2010
smells very much like peaches which is interesting. an opaque peach color-rather murky. tastes much the same. skoisirius (1909) - Earth, Washington, USA - DEC 28, 2009
Bottle thanks to Catherine, one of NB’s reps out in Seattle. Light aroma of lemon, ginger spice, and juniper. Medium body, not too carbonated. Sour and bitter on the finish in a definitely agreeable way. Lots of grapefruit, sour citrus and a tiny hint of rye does exist. Overall, I really dug this version in the Trip series...a bit different, still sour in its own-right and also lingering for a nice few moments after each sip. Yum.

Draft at Elysian Capital Hill. Pours a hazy dark orangish amber with minimal off white head. Nose is fruity, spicy, with some light rye backing. Peach, pineapple, sweet mandrin orange, pepper, cinnamon, cardoman, very slight sweet balsamic. The juniper is there, but really hidden/blended in with the sweet fruit notes. Different story however in the flavor. Slightly sweet apple up front with the rye coming through and then a pretty good blast of juniper. Kind of piney and bitter and maybe a touch medicinal. Interesting stuff and maybe the best of the Trips so far. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 24, 2009
Nose is nice and fruity with hints of spice, juniper, orange, and pepper. Underneath is a touch of sweetness. Pours orange amber, somewhat hazy with a minimal head and lace. The flavor is fruity and spicy. A good amount of juniper combines with notes of citrus - mainly orange and light lemon - spicy pepper, and a little bit of berry sweetness. Peppery crispness in the finish as well as vibrant bitey carbonation. carruthm (1401) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 9, 2009
draft at elysian capital hill it has a really nice gin and Christmas spice aroma, probably from the juniper. Flavor is a nice crisp bitter.
