3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked up at Brewforia Meridian for an expensive $7 for a regular ABV IPA.
Pours a mostly clear dark golden... maybe some hop haze... great 2 finger head leaves sheets of lacing.
Nose is a pretty standard Cascade IPA... a bit of rye does come through in the aroma.
Big bitterness from front to back.. The rye comes through on the flavor as more of an earthy note.. mild citrus hoppiness and a bit of tropical fruitiness... but the bitterness blows everything out IMO.
Body is lighter than I expect with a good carbonation... really pretty quaffable... I dig it, but won’t be buying it again... tooo expensive for the quality of the brew.
Good but not great.
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to yellow color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Adequate lace.
The aroma leads with some bitter to sweet citrus to grassy smelling hops. Some spicy rye cracks open in the background.
The flavor seems to lead with the citrus and grassy sweet hops. It’s the rye that helps to spice it up a little bit. Nice semi-sweet to light spicy rye aftertaste with a quick finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. Rye definitely hits in the harshness but spreads out enough to not be overly done.
Overall, good rye IPA that I would have again. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 30, 2014

(Draught at brewpub) clear tepid gold, creamy white bubbles and nice lacing. Nose is floral, white grapes, and cream. Taste of green/white grapes, cream, cereal grain, with medium carbonation and a creamy finish. Oakes (17684) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 14, 2014
Amber and hazy, bubbly head. Aroma is big chewy....rye, crystal, stale hop...unlike Elysian to give me stale hops. Fruity character with a slight papaya accent. Lots of chewy...again this seems more crystal than rye. IndianaRed (4629) - Boise, Idaho, USA - FEB 9, 2014
22oz Bottle, hazy dingey light yellow with a huge pillowy meringue looking head. Faint citrusy, tangerine hop aroma. Papery hop flavor. Grassy and somewhat bitter. Just OK

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice tropical fruit, orange, pineapple, hints of grapefruit into spice, rye, grass, nice biscuit, bready notes but it is all about the hops. Taste is a mix of tropical fruit, orange peel, pine, grass, slight mango into some caramel, hints of spicy notes, finishing fairly bitter. Dissipating white head atop a clouded orange body. Nose of old orange peel. Bitter hops with little aftertaste. Pretty plain. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 16, 2013
Bottle:   Orangish straw, fiery, hazy, small to moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Bright shrubby nose, soft floral and citrus notes.   Seems a bit green on the tongue, not biting, but a little rough.   Citrus notes, but bright shrubby berry notes as well.   A touch of fragrant or soapy floral notes too.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Wished it were a bit smoother.   Has a nice nose, but comes across as a little green.   Certainly hoppy, and also a bit dry, but needs to be a touch smoother... perhaps sweeter?   Feels a little green. On tap at the hog shack. Slightly hazy straw yellow with airy white cap, good lacing. Highly citrus and pine, malty rye spice aroma. Taste is bitter, but not really as lingering as I expected. Kind of dry, but for the most part just "meh".
