COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

New Belgium Tripel 7.8% A beautiful bright clear gold with a foamy white head. The aroma is vineous, plum, figs, a bit tart but a very nice example of the style. Medium to full mouthfeel with a dry finish. The taste is crackery pale malts and big luscious candied fruits, figs, plums, raisins and while it has some boozy heat it is quite well balanced. I like it, it’s a good example of a Belgian Style Trippel, but being in Japan we can get Belgian original versions for less. So if I was in the US I’d go for this in a heartbeat but being in Japan I think I’d get an belgian original instead. Really really nice though.

Pours a light golden color. About two finger head. Head is white and thin. Okay retention and okay lacing. Has white sediment floating around in it.

Aroma is banana and coriander. Also tropical fruity.

Taste is banana sand coriander. Also, true to style, tastes sour. Sweet, malty, Smells yeasty, but can’t taste it.

Mouthfeel is medium full body. High ABV, can’t taste it.

Overall, it’s good. I would recommend it for the style. I’m not a fan of the style. But it’s good. I don’t know why I bought it, but it’s decent enough.

Cajun (539) - Lafayette, Louisiana, USA - MAR 27, 2016
12oz bottle - Poured a deep amber with creamy white head. Nice smell of malted grains, bread, and spices. Flavors of spice, raisins, over-ripened fruit, and a woody herb. Alcohol is somewhat detected along with a bitter finish, but it’s not overpowering.

Gespuccian (141) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 19, 2016
Pours a golden yellow with white head. Nose is sweet, banana, cloves. Taste is of classic Belgian yeast, and some sweet banana that’s tempered by slightly bitter hops. Finish is slightly sweet, slighty bitter, and a touch dry. A good American take on the trippel.

12 oz. can. Pours a slightly-hazy medium gold color with 1/4" white head and good lacing. Aroma is very fruity, slightly yeasty, lots of citrus, spices. Full-bodied, taste of malt and citrus, (bubblegum?), cinnamon, sweet and yeasty. Finishes with lingering cinnamon and citrus. Nice, even taste. Will buy again.

Delicious gold. Pours its own head, since you can try to pour it without. Creamy white, if you were wondering. Nice, sweet malt offset off the back of the tongue by the hops goodness. Don’t go after beer as a first choice, but this almost matches a braggot in character. And, seriously, that head! This is more or less what I could ask from a beer of this particular gravity. Would drink again.

Svesse (8682) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JAN 26, 2016
(Bottle) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with dried apricots, bread, coriander, honey and floral hops. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of apricots, honey, white bread, coriander, lemon peel and a gentle floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced, a good example of the style. Very nice.
