COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeuss daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2012 Mild citrus hop aroma with a hint of cantaloupe. Golden yellow color (srm appox. 6) and nicely effervescent, with nice creamy white head that fades to lace. Slightly bitter, with citrus, pine, and a slight hint of cantaloupe flavors up front, but fades to a strong grapefruit flavor. No presence of spice that I noted. Very clean mouth feel, like taking a bite of grapefruit. No alcohol or warming sensation. Overall, a very good beer, with a strong citrus profile. It has no spice aroma or flavor that I noticed, but it was a served a little colder than I would have liked.

This had lots of coriander for me...too much in my opinion. It was basically all I noticed and was off-putting for my taste. It is not something that I necessarily mind, but it needs to be more well balanced. I might try it again, but only if I am not paying for it.

Poured into a chalice, the appearance was a semi-hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a thick fingers worth of white foamy head that dissipated somewhat evenly. Messy lace. The aroma had some citrusy hops playing with some floral hops. And then some banana esters, iced apples, Belgian sugars and spices come in to blend nicely. The flavor leans somewhat sweet with a nice effort of the Belgian spice to gracefully hit underneath. Sly sweet then subtle floral and spicy aftertaste with a quick dry semi-sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability almost sipping quality about it. Medium carbonation. Throaty Belgian-esque sort of burn but due to the spice and not ABV related. Overall, mostly a pretty good tripel by an American brewer. I would have again.

Tap at New Belgium Meet the Brewer event at Gambrinus. Pours a deep gold with a pillowy foamy head that lingers. Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove on the nose. Light, flaming banana-like esters. Soft mouthfeel, with average carbonation. A little too much spice, but still an enjoyable tripel. Sweet on the palate with a touch of dry pepper on the finish.

$1.99 bottle from World Market. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of yeasty bubblegum, spices, and grass. Flavor is lightly fruity, along with banana, clove, and glue. Cant say this is anything special.

Wasnt able to communicate with the winds. I had hoped to ask them when was the best time of year to drink a New Belgium Trippel. I enjoy drinking beer when weather corresponds to taste but having not drank a belgian style beer in sometime I lost track of my knowledge of its flavors and therefore could not make an informed decision. So I decided to gamble, letting the chips fall where they may, and picked an ordinary summer evening to attempt this out of the ordinary beer. To my relief, the beer is good and works well in these weather conditions.

* Abv 8.5. Balance of yeast, spice, malts. Well balanced with caramel malt. Earthy hops shining on the finish. Yes, a bit watery yet the hops add to a nice finish. Alcohol hidden. Typical American style triple yet satisfying. Enjoyable at the price and availability.

Pours a light hazy yellow with whit head. Has a strong citrus hop and yeast aroma. A sweet citrus taste with some pine but fairly watered down. A lingering dry hop and yeast aftertaste.
