500ml bottle (2014 release - bottle 773/1000) in a tasting glass. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and piney and floral hops, some oak and tequila, pale and caramel hops, with some hints of alcohol and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the base beer and tequila barrels. Average texture. A cool interpretation of the base beer.

Draft sample at EBF. Lightly fruity pale ale character with slight hints of oak, agave. A curious stylistic decision, but fits the bill of Extreme in my book.

Bottle #463/713

1/05/2011: New England Zapata Bot... Aroma: Lemon-lime citrus peel; tequila? Appearance: Hazy golden color; average carbonation with some fine sediment; frothy, fading white head. Flavor: Interesting combination of citrus and faint malts; spicy (peppery) hops; dry tequila in the finish as well as some alcohol. Palate: Medium-light; smooth; average mouthfeel. Overall: I didnt realize that this beer actually WAS aged in a tequila barrel prior to smelling and tasting it, but it definitely comes through! My first tequila barrel beer... Beer + tequila = weird combination, but it is starting growing on me... eh, not really!

500 ml bottle shared by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad! Rating #33 for this beer.

Bottle from Cletus (consumed Jan 2011). Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small off white head. The aroma has grapefruit and citrus that favors lemon/lime, sweeter caramel malts, a different woody character that can only be the influence of the tequila barrel and mild spicy notes. The flavor has a unique quality to it as well, no doubt from the tequila barrel; caramel malts, lemon/lime citrus, wood, white pepper, spice. Very interesting; my first beer from a tequila barrel.

8/12/13/12/9/12

Bottle thanks to Cletus! Hazy apricot colored pour, little carbonation, tons of floaties and an aroma of booze and bitter blood oranges. Flavor is some bitter hops, then mellow tequila, more bitter orange, apricot and finished with a boozy tequila margarita aftertaste. Extremely unique and enjoyable, really glad I got try this one. Trade big for this one if you need to.
