December 10th, 2014 - Available at the closest grocery store, this Zumbar Chocolate Coffee Imperial Stout was very much an impulse purchase. I caught a glimpse of it while wheeling too much ice cream down the aisle to the register, sensing it would fit in the same vein of chocolatey goodness. The body is expectedly dark, but the head is somewhat surprisingly dark as well, taking on a deep, rich espresso foam color of brown, like a stirred up soy sauce. The aroma is rich with botanical notes and coffee, with a layer of dark chocolate presenting some sweetness to the olfactory. The flavor is even better, delivering smooth chocolate notes like a mousse or ganache, blending the sweetness of the chocolate against a dark bitterness. A long chocolate aftertaste makes for a final treat at the end of each mouthful, providing a little boozy burn to settle the taste buds. thegreenrooster (4396) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 11, 2017
Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is a nice bitter bakers chcocolate with some roast malt. Flavor is all equal parts coffee and chocolate with a nice roast and bitterness. This is a extremely flavorful stout, maybe a bit too bitter but this has plenty of chocolate and coffee. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - FEB 16, 2017

Had this once and rated it at 3.75 on Untappd, but this will be my first time reviewing it. Excited to have another good beer from New English.
Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Average amount of uneven, spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average-to-good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled deep, dark, roasted coffee malts, dark chocolate, smoky fire, dry, dark cocoa nibs and some ashtray. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose nicely. Basically all coffee, which I always love in beer but somehow have never tried (save a half a cup one time of an espresso). Got dark, roasty coffee beans, Belgian dark chocolate, dry, dark cocoa nibs, smoky fire, ashtray and black licorice. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Enjoyed this one but I pretty much enjoy all coffee beers. Nice to the winter. (Overall - 4.00)
