We invite you to discover this newest beer style Black IPA. Political debate rages over the origins of this jet black beer as both coasts feel they deserve credit. Our Black Top is a pleasant road connecting Villages and Communities statewide on a ride of Black IPA discovery. Expect this beer to pour a hop forward jet black glass brimming with aromatic bitterness. Brewmaster Dan skillfully weaves molasses and chocolate malt undertones with a soaring rush of clean citrus and pine hop notes, to deliver a drinkable Black IPA. Savor Black Top, like Wisconsin’s miles of licorice ribbons of ink that meander through armies of corn and bovine mowed fields. Enjoy the journey on a road less traveled.

This is a great beer. Slightly spicy hop aroma, with roasted undertones. Nearly black appearance, but not quite. Creamy palate, but the taste is a wonderful malty pleasure with just the right amount of bitterness. Hops are a subtle blend of piney and citrus, with a pleasantly long and smooth finish. If only I lived in Wisconsin.

Up front hop aroma ...initially one side just great hop aroma and taste ala moon man which is fine... I thought just like American ipa... No black... But as u drink it a different bitterness exhibits itself with a little deeper malt back... Not as predominate as most black iPas and taste wise I still put it in the American ipa category... But good beer I love drinking it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great aroma, nice citrus hop scent with a malty undertone. The taste is good but not exactly to style, blindfolded this would get mistaken for a traditional ipa. Good but not what I was hoping for.

Drinking this out of the bottle, the aroma is a classic pale ale with the exact hops they use for moon man. Some malt, but all hops  Taste is very similar to moon man. I really wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a pale ale and a porter, so the malts they use only adds color and not flavor.

Pour from bottle at Yaegers. Pours deep brown with light brown head. Real tasty hoppy beer. Black IPA, delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very nice and clean garnet brown and sits mahogany in the glass with ruby tinted edges. A soft pour generates two fingers of sticky sandy tan head. The nose is very nice with some resinous notes and soft citrus with lightly chocolatey notes. Flavor shows the soft fruity notes and a touch of alcohol, notes of citrus zest on the finish. Medium light body with a gentle carbonation and zesty bitterness on the finish.

Bottle. Brown with a tan head. This beer tastes like dirt and grass, but not in a way that is too off putting...if that’s possible. Some hop mixed in there too. Bitter at the end.

Bottle. Garnet with a tan head. Big, earthy and hop aromas. Earthy and odd malt and hop bitterness.

Bottle acquired by the wife in Madison. Pour is deep brown with a frothy cream head and great lacing. Marshmallow, roast, grapefruit, candied oranges, bready, and herbal aroma. Taste is hoppy, somewhat husky, toasty, grapefruit, pine, a hint of chocolate and grainy with a light bitter finish. Full mouthfeel with medium carbobation. Decent black IPA, but nothing really stands out to me.

Another gusher from New Glarus. Pours almost black. Nose smells just like a regular IPA with only a hint of roast and charcoal. Simple bitterness, lots of piney and nutty aspects. Actually a little creamy in the mouthfeel.
