Pitch black with a khaki-colored head; Good lacing. Aroma of roasted barley, coffee and chocolate. Very roasty flavor but with notes of chocolate, floral & bitter hops and Roasty aftertaste; Coffee shines through as it warms up. Heavy body but fairly mild carbonation. Pretty tasty. redbeard3 (107) - - APR 27, 2014
Pours an almost black with a nice tan head. Bought from IGA in Washburn might be a little old because the coffee takes the back seat to the dark fruit flavors. Barnoloid (386) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 26, 2014
12oz bottle purchased from Woodmans in Kenosha, WI. I’m not sure if I was late in the season in getting this, but the coffee seems to be fairly muted here. Still, New Glarus have here a coffee stout that fits right in with their malt and flavor forward style. This stout will not knock you out for the day/evening and would be great with a Sunday roast dinner. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 24, 2014
Rich and full bodied is this stout. Pours a nice jet black color. Coffee on the nose, follows onto the palate with cocoa, and roasted malt character.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a small creamy tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is coffee, roasty, cocoa. Flavor follows, light sweet, light bitter, roasty, light coffee. Medium body, not bad. markducommun (1224) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 16, 2014
Opaque black, dark-brown, small tan head. Bitter dark-roasted coffee beans, slight dark-chocolate notes. Earthy. Some caramel, molasses notes. Relatively subtle nose. Tastes predominantly bitter, some sourness from the roasted malt flavors, hints of sweetness throughout. Thicker mouthfeel, some oiliness, alcohol is very upfront. Big beer, reasonably balanced, pleasant.

The appearance is an opaque dark brown with a small tan head, and the aroma is coffee, roasted malts, and caramel malts. The taste is slightly sweet, slightly umami, slightly bitter, and a touch sour; the palate fuses a nearly oily texture, medium body, malty finish, and a soft carbonation.
