Bottled. Poured crystal-clear honeyed orange with a short cap of off-whtie head. The aroma picked up semi-sweet honey and bready malts with vibrant accents of cloves, coriander, and pineapple.. warm vanilla undertones.. really good nose! The flavor found more bready sweetness at the core paired with a bit of maple and some black pepper-laden fruits.. tacky and fairly spicy toward the back.. tasty stuff! Dry and scratchy on the palate with prickly carbonation.. just an OK flow.. easy-drinkin’ and tasty. madvike (3302) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Bottle - Pours clear amber with a slight reddish tinge and a huge foamy white head. Nose is beautiful, with bright clove and cinnamon notes and a sweet banana wheat base. Smells just like a classic hefe. The taste is where you can really notice the filtering. All the flavors are there, but they’re not as pungent and chewy, and it’s a bit watery. It’s good, just not as good as the nose would let on. What it loses in taste it gains in drinkability. There’s nothing harsh here--it’s all smooth, rounded edges that would make this beer great for a huge stein. Dan Carey, you’re the man. JoePeesie (924) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - SEP 2, 2011
pours as described similar to the color of a red foxes coat. The spices of clove and cinnamon hit your nose and palate and the sip ends with a touch of bitterness. Another solid offering from New Glarus. fidelis83 (2523) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - SEP 1, 2011
Pours clear medium amber center with old gold at the edges tall fluffy, off white head that has excellent retention. Aroma is big on banana, clove, spice, a touch of bubblegum and vanilla. Flavor is banana, playful hints of grain, light clove, a touch of vanilla and light spicy hops with a toasty banana bread, mineral water finish. Palate is fairly light with a medium, blanketing, but not at all sharp carbonaiton and a slightly creamy entry leading to an off dry, mineral finish. Really fantastic Kristallweizen, I haven’t had many, but this is easily the best that I have had. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2011
On tap at the GTMW 2011. Ok, this is a wheat beer from New Glarus so if you’ve been paying attention you should know where this review is heading. Bright orange pour with a creamy white head. Aroma of strong wheat, cloves, banana, bubble gum. Flavor is clovey, banana-y and spot on for the style. New Glarus is putting a clinic on with how to make awesome wheat styles. This is ridiculous. Dead on for a Kristallweizen. New Glarus is Killing it. Hard to get this excited about a wheat beer.

Draft at Great Taste. Imagine this, another fantastic wheat beer from New Glarus! Pours a super clear gold with a sticky white head that lasts the whole time. Nose is aromatic wheat yeast, cloves and faint banana, big bready malts and wheat. On taste, it is more subdued and would seem that the filtering stripped out some of the character. This is still a spot-on Wheat with a fantastic overally character. The light-bodied aspects are really desirable and fantastically refreshing. UPDATED: SEP 17, 2011 GTMW. Amber in color and clear. Typical notes of spice, clove in the nose. Sweet wheat malt, fruity esters, light touch of caramel. Fairly full of flavor considering how light the beer is. Will try again when bottled version available.
Bottled version: in addition, able to pick up some nice apple/cherry notes in the aroma. +1 aroma.
