Moon Man is a seriously cool cat. Always comfortable in his own skin, he never tries too hard. So cool we named our "no coast" pale ale after him. You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Dont let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real. Just be.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2012 A bit too sweet overall for my taste, but still a very nice pale ale. Cheers!

Short pour on Sunday morning at the Old Fashioned in Madison, WI. Not sure how Ive never had this before. It was described to me as "Pliny the Elder Light", and I think it lived up that billing. A ton of hops in it, very bitter in the taste and all throughout. Sensational beer.

3 oz taster at the brewery. Pours a dark yellow-gold color with a medium white head. The aroma was quite strong with good fresh citrus. The taste was similar to the nose, lots of citrus, particularly oranges, but also some lemons and sweetened grapefruit. The palate was smooth and somewhat light, but seemed appropriate for the style and the carbonation was soft. Finished long and dry with lingering oranges. Overall: First rate brew, very tasty, I wonder if they used citra hops.

Pours golden yellow with a fluffy white head. The aroma has pleasing floral and citrusy hops along with a hint of tropical fruit which is very well balanced with toasty lush malt. Medium crisp body with a nice amount of semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with a bright crispness with spicy and floral hops, well balanced maltiness and a cleanness that makes it seem very lively. There is a bit of sweetness, but it is kept in check and hints of caramel and berry fruits. As the label says this isnt extreme, but it an excellently crafted pale ale. Wish I could get this on a regular basis. Big thanks to Terminus for picking this one up for me on a recent WI trip.

Pours orange with a white, fizzy head. Smells of citrus hops, a lot like a solid IPA. Tastes bitter with some citrus notes. Light-bodied with a wet texture and active mouth-carbonation, New Glarus Moon Man No Coast Pale Ale finishes bitterer than a regular pale ale should.

Pours a cloudy orange with white foamy head. Floral/citrus aroma. Lemon, herbal quality. Citrus hop finish. Refreshing and satisfying, a solid beer.

Thanks emacgee for sharing. hazy orange golden with a small swirly white head. Nose of grapefruit rind and sweet buttery malts. Almost creamy in the mouth with some more citrus and little else finishing overly dry. Strange beer.

Thanks bauermj. Pours light clean straw yellow with one finger of white head. Citrusy and hoppy nose, very fresh and green with a light sweetness and resinous character. Zesty and spicy flavor with a lightly grassy flavor. Dry and light bodied, a tad thin.

Ar: Deeply resinous, red grapefruit, fresh orange peel, and perfume. Ap: Straw golden - crystal clear - small white head with low retention. T: Hoppy and bitter up front, with similar flavors as aroma (deep resinous citrus and flowers) - very little malt character, quite clean - low sweetness and bitter finish. P: Medium-light body with medium-high carbonation, fairly dry and crisp. O: Wonderful hop aroma - clean and crisp, with a great combination of drinkability and depth of flavor - a touch of malt sweetness and comblexity and a little more color would make this ideal for me, but still a very impressive beer.
