500ml bottle received in trade. Thanks Jason! Pours a clear, reddish brown color with a thin white head. Aroma is sour cherry, a little vanilla, a little funk. Medium body on the palate with light carbonation. Flavor is sweet, cherry, vanilla, a little oak, a touch of bourbon, a little funk, with a sweet, sour cherry finish. I would have loved to been able to try this fresh, but I’m just glad I got to try it at all. I think the bourbon has probably faded somewhat, but it is still really tasty. Not super complex, but a very interesting mix of flavors. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Draft at GTMW 12. Pours a brownish red with a thin offwhite head. The nose shows vanilla, cherry pie, faint tartness and a hint of vinegar and maple syrup. The Bourbon Barrel definitely shows here. On tasting, it’s got that sweet and sour thing going on that makes it a bit tough for me to palate. Fortunately, the acidity wins in the end, drying out and cleaning it up. A bit too much barrel sourced vanilla for my liking but pretty cool with plenty of that Door County Cherry thing going on. arkurzynski (2446) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 12, 2012
GTMW. Red-hued amber pour. Gentle notes of bourbon and oak with a perfumey cherry and light sour tinge. Flavor is tart, sweet cherry trailing out to a moderate sour, spicy cherry. Dry, sour finish with some lingering bourbon and vanilla. Wasn’t expecting this to be as sweet as it was. Very glad I got to try. DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 3, 2012
Absolutely absurd how good this beer is. A bit of everything.... oak flavor, vanilla, sour, tart, malty, bourbon, and nothing is overwhelming. A perfect blend, and about as close to a perfect beer as I’ve had. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2012

Huge thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma is awesome. I get a ton of bourbon, maple and vanilla notes up front, with the accompanying tart cherry notes. The flavor is more of the same. All of the notes from the aroma are present in the flavor. If I had to summarize the flavor, I would say it tastes like bourbon-chocolate covered cherries. The tartness and a little hint of funk just add to the other notes. I have never had a beer that tastes quite like this and I hope I get to try it again, although that is probably unlikely. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. An outstanding beer.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear amber pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of sour cherry, some vanilla and bourbon. Malty cherry flavor with light bourbon before a tart finish. alpar (160) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Very red hue in the color with a thin white head. Smells like cherries and chardonnay. One of the best beers I’ve ever smelled. Taste is very tart with raspberry and cherry followed by funky brett and oak. AWESOME. KickInChalice (860) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 15, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 12/14/2011. Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a snifter. Thanks to Dunt for bringing this over.
My pour is an amber brown color with a transparent edge. A soft eggshell head slowly fades to a few islands and a collar around the edge.
Sweet bourbon, bready malt, and tart cherries create a simple and pleasant nose.
The flavor starts with a dark cherry sweetness. Next comes vanilla, oak, and sweet bourbon, and then the flavor goes tart. Cherry and a bit of lemon zest to close out.
Slightly grainy, tart and salivating, smooth and creamy carbonation, and a light to medium body.
I enjoyed this overall, partly because I think I like sweet bourbon barrel aged beers. pushkinwow (2851) - Ottawa, CANADA - FEB 24, 2012
500ml bottle, made 1/18/10 and bottled 8/6/10 - can’t remember who from though. Unfortunately it dropped onto my favourite duvel collectors glass and broke both the glass and emptied the majority of the bottle. Also cut my thumb...boo hoo. O well. Dark amber with a tan head. Light vanilla, bourbon, oak, cherry, bit lactic, quite mellow. Low carbonation, moderate body, hint of sweetness but more lactic and vinegar, bit thin on the finish although a very nice vanilla, cherry and gueze like finish. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle at a recent tasting... Poured dark, murky, brownish-burgundy with an off-white head. Tart acidity with clean cherry flavor. Reminded me of maraschino charries. Oak, alcohol heat that was pleasant and balanced by the cutting sourness.
