Bottle again generously shared by Sparky @ Dak’s Cantillon Tasting. Not nearly as complex nor was the Macintosh as forward but this did remind me a bit of Selin’s Grove Phoenix Kriek. Lots of tart cherry skin, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, crisp apple, and vanilla. Subtle bourbon and oak. Medium mouthfeel. Haven’t had anything but enjoyable from these guys! 500 ml bottle cortesy oif adneilson (thanks Aaron!) poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, sour cherries, oak, vanilla and light funk. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of sour cherries, bourbon, oak, vanilla and light horseblanket funk with a smooth dry lightly tart lingering funky cherry finish. Glad I got to try this one! cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - AUG 24, 2011
Bottle @ ratman’s place. Thanks to TheAlum for the generous trade. Dark red, slightly violet appearance with a whitish head. Mild sweet bourbon, slightly oaky, tart cherry aroma. Quite tart cherry, mild bourbon, quite carbonated, mildly funky flavor. Tart fruity aftertaste. Tingly aftertaste. Awesome beer. dcschiller (2211) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2011
(bottle shared at Dak’s 5000 tasting). Pours a clear copper color with an off-white head. Aroma has cherry pie, bread and wood. Taste is sweet with lots of rich cherry. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. Smooth. Really nice beer that reminds me of a spiced cherry pie. Delicious. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - AUG 14, 2011
500ml bottle from a forgotten trader - thanks, mystery man! It cannot be bad if it’s New Glarus and there’s wood and cherries involved. And sure enough, this one was a delight. Deep dark red pour, translucent for the most and topped by a thin sheet of bubbles. Nose initially gives off meat and bourbon, interestingly enough, but soon includes overripe cherry skins, wood, and candy. Nice silky body, like Belgian Red, and the flavors are lovely, with booze, wood, and fruit blending together in ways that recall a tweaked Enigma.

500mL bottle. Poured a lovely shade of clear reddish-amber with a little bit of dense off-white head on top. The aroma picked up sweet and sour cherries upfront, with funky lemon rind, some footy notes, and old oak barrels accenting.. totally decadent! The flavor found a bit sweeter cherries with complementary sour zest and metallic bourbon around.. some funky and earthy accents.. finished with some residual fruity sugar.. touches of oxidation on the back.. overall tasty, but not what I was hoping after the nose. Medium-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow, but a little too grainy. Overall a solid brew. CanIHave4Beers (4226) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Bottle courtesy of thickfreakness! Pours a reddish orange color with a medium well retained head and some lace. The aroma is woody, more like fresh cut wood than a barrel. Some mild whiskey shows through but farm more cherries and nuttiness dominate the aroma here. The flavor is sour, not over the top but certainly quite sour and tart. Loads of sour cherry flavor are all over this beer but it remains dry. This seems like a funked out version of Belgian Red, as such it rules.

clear pale coppery amber with a short lived off white-ish beige head.
it smells and tastes like cherry candies, vanilla, banana, cinnamon, grain and wet wood. there is a lactic-type tartness on the finish but it isn’t sour.
lively carbonation makes it go down easy.7/3/7/4/15

500 ml bottle. Clearish amber brown with spotty froth. Nose is bubblegum, cherry, bourbon and vanilla. Medium light with a soft sparkle. Taste is slightly tart cherry and sweet bourbon with vanilla, hay and hints of nutmeg. A touch sour with spice and mild funk. I didn’t think this would work but comes together beautifully. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 17, 2011
Mostly cherry, wet bourbon wood, vanilla, and some tart lactic qualities. Pours reddish golden copper, thin quickly disipating head. The flavors has a good amount of cherries, bourbon essence, vanilla, and wet oak. Soft sourness from the lactic shows up in the finish and cleans it out a little. Nicely carbonated, lingering soft lactic cherry notes. Pretty solid.
