UPDATED: MAR 31, 2012 Bottle with James and pat. Pours a clear red with thin head. Amazing smell. Cherries with oaked bourbon. Taste is light, tart, slighty funky. Bourbon cream mellows it out keeping it overly acidic. Ridiculously smooth. So complex.

From long-gestating notes. Thanks to whoever provided this at mrpickles’ Black Friday tasting. Pours cherry-red with, surprisingly, a little wisp of faintly pink head. Nose is fleshy cherry, sweet yogurt, damp wood, just enough bourbon vanilla to tip the balance. Flavor follows, with a mouthfeel that’s just a tad thin. Dry finish, but the tang lingers for days. Insanely good.

Smell is cherries, oak, vanilla, and some bourbon. The taste only gets better with the bourbon, and vanilla really taking center stage, although the cherries definitely make their presence known. Very creamy and SMOOTH. I wanted to love this one, and it blew me away! The most impressive New Glarus beer I’ve had to date. Phenomenal beer that I will be keeping all to myself!

Had at tasting the night before DLD! Not sure who brought it, but thanks! Pours amber with little or no head. Aroma has hints of bourbon, cherries and vanilla. Taste is bourbon, vanilla and sour cherries. Pretty good beer.

Very red hue in the color with a thin white head. Smells like cherries and chardonnay. One of the best beers I’ve ever smelled. Taste is very tart with raspberry and cherry followed by funky brett and oak. AWESOME.
