UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bottle at MN Gathering @ Skyview V. Rich light amber pour with a white ring head. Aroma and flavor of tart cherry, wood, and a very smooth mellow sour element. Excellent.

Bottle… Tampa “Farewell to Sebletitje” Tasting… Clear amber ale with little to no head. The bouquet offers oak, toffee, vanilla, a dab of coconut, a pat of butter and a splash of red wine vinegar - not all that fruity in the nose. Full-bodied with tickling carbonation. Flavor-wise, it’s caramely, tart and lightly acetic with loads of fruity sour cherries. Sweet-tart finish. Great stuff! This world class bottle of beer was shared by fogdog. Thanks, Kevin!

500 ml bottle shared by lushawn- thanks a ton, Shawn! Pours a clear copper color with a small eggshell white head. Aroma of caramel malts, vanilla, wild yeast, oak, bourbon, cherries- it’s actually a lot like Enigma in the nose. Flavor of tart cherries, vanilla, caramel malts, oak, apples, grapes, brown sugar, corn syrup, and yeast. Medium-bodied, with a tart and sweet mouthfeel and crisp carbonation. Starts sweeter and finishes more tart. Very nice.

Bottle @ ratman’s place. Thanks to TheAlum for the generous trade. Dark red, slightly violet appearance with a whitish head. Mild sweet bourbon, slightly oaky, tart cherry aroma. Quite tart cherry, mild bourbon, quite carbonated, mildly funky flavor. Tart fruity aftertaste. Tingly aftertaste. Awesome beer.

Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11. Courtesy of Fogdog.
New Glarus s’est encore surpassé.

Bottle, thanks a ton Greg! Clear amber, orange pour with thin to no white head. Aroma is very decadent, notes of sour cherry, vanilla, slight bourbon, and some slight lemon notes. Taste is a nice mix of cherry, vanilla and sweet bread with tart lemon, and finishes fairly sweet with some vanilla and bourbon. Nice and different!

500 ml bottle shared by Toby. Pours a clear brown color with a medium white head. A sweet fruity nose with some sourness present as well. The flavor is dominated by easy smooth cherries, vanilla, light barrel. Some sourness, but mostly smooth and very tasty.

pours hazy almost cloudy copper-reddish with a small but reviving off-white head, nice lacing. woodsy bourbon vanilla, brown sugar - some sweetness, buttery nutty and fruity maltiness, coconut, spices - some cinnamon, bit more berries than cherries, bit of grass and pepper, light acidity - fairly linear, unfortunately a hint of garbage. moderate to low carbonation, light to medium body - tad heavy, barely tart and sweet fruity berry finish. more than decent sour but just o-k and nothing exceptional when considered a kriek..

1/15/11. Bottle shared at the Sea Bass tasting. Awesome vanilla BA aromas mixed with fantastic spiced cherry. Light spiced cherry flavor with a hint of vanilla and coconut. This is heaven!

Bottle split with pat and dallas. Pours a hazy amber red body with white lacing. Aroma is absolutely perfect - notes of tart, ripe sour cherries and light Bourbon waves. Mouthfeel is great fruity textures - mistletoe sweet and sour cherries not too much bourbon. Lots of fruit.
