Brewed with flaked barley and the finest Wisconsin malts. We even give a nod to our farmers with a little hint of corn. Naturally cloudy we allow the yeast to remain in the bottle to enhance fullness of flavors, which can not be duplicated otherwise. Expect this Ale to be fun, fruity and satisfying.

Enjoyed this straight from the bottle yesterday. Was great for a hot day, slightly malty scent with a hint of carmel nuts. Taste was malty and carmelish as well, it reminded me of something i had tasted long ago but i can’t quite place my finger on it. Great buzz! After the first few swigs i found myself really enjoying this beer, i would buy it again.

Pours a slightly hazy light gold. Very thin white head. Smells like a sweet vanilla. More traditional cream ale flavor with a grainy finish.

I poured this beer into my trusty Samuel Adams glass. The pour was cold, muting the aroma somewhat, though I was able to get some nice doughy notes. The body of the beer is a hazy gold, topped with a generous, frothy head of white foam, which laced well as it diminished. This drinks pretty easily, with a light body, complemented with a slight sweetness from the malts. I do think there is a grapefruity bitterness that is not quite balanced. Spotted Cow is a people are required to bring back to Illinois when they visit America's Dairyland. It's a pretty good beer, though a little thin and tinny in parts.

So as a bit of backstory, I've been very curious to try this brew ever since I first saw it featured in my edition of Brewopoly (one of my favorite Christmas presents ever), but the last place I expected to find it was at the bottom of an industrial fridge at my parent's bed & breakfast, apparently left behind from a wedding guest from Wisconsin. Fortunately I found these bottles in good shape and still fresh, but in the end this much-hyped beer didn't quite live up to its reputation. That being said, this does work as a nice light introduction to the farmhouse style, with distinctive floral yeastiness on the nose and in the flavor. Aroma was also reminiscent of a gose, with a slightly sour and grainy note. Appearance was a very slightly hazy straw gold color with fluffy foam, looked nice in a kolsch stange. Light bodied with soft carbonation, this has a mild and delicate flavor of grain, yeast, and a slight herbal-straw hoppy accent. Finishes clean and refreshing. Worth a try, and will meet expectations if just looking for a pleasant light ale.

12 oz bottle acquired through trade. Nice flavors of funk and farmhouse flavors with a bit of orange peel thrown in. Really balanced and drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazed golden color with white head. Light bodied moderately sweet. Notes: on tap in Milwaukee

This is an average American beer. Not outstanding in the least. I compared it to Pabst Blue Ribbon side by side. It is no better and in my opinion not quite as good. The main difference being a slightly slippery mouth feel as opposed to the crisp finish of Pabst. Only a slightly different balance. I actually preferred the Pabst.

A traditional German lager under Reinheitsgebot. Nice malt hop mix with that cold lager finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

12 oz bottle from the variety pack, from Keyport Liquor in Superior, WI. Aroma is dough, chalky candy, corny, sweet malts, spicy. Pours hazy golden with a one finger white head that falls into a ring pretty quick. Taste is sweet and a bit spicy, flavors of Belgian yeast with bubblegum character, grain. Perfect mouthfeel. Not bad. I don’t see how it’s a cream ale, though. I’ve heard it’s a farmhouse ale, which is closer to what I’m tasting. Maybe it should be in the saison category?
