An amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of caramel and wood. The flavor is like liquid caramel, strong caramel flavors and very thick, but also with light notes of alcohol, which in turn gives it a dryness. joergen (28386) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 17, 2006

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with large yeast chunks. The aroma is candy sugar, caramel, spice. Medium mouth, similar flavors to nose, boozy finish, decent. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 14, 2005
(12oz bottle, thanks Barry) Small beige head atop a crystal clear amber body. Aroma is mild, moderately sweet, maple/molasses, caramel, light herbal, alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, maple, caramel, herbal, light metallic, alcohol. Sticky full body with low carbonation. I am a big fan of New Glarus, and a big fan of barleywines, but for some reason this NG BW does not work for me. So sad. BeerandBlues2 (13594) - Escondido, California, USA - JUN 2, 2007
12-oz. bottle provided via trade with Duane. Pours hazy orange with small particles, spare fizzy off-white head, patchy film, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, caramel), average hops (flowers, perfume), average yeast (dough) with notes of honey, cardboard, and apple. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity and bitterness; perfumed hop bitter flavor with notes of honeyed malt. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 15, 2006
(Bottle, courtesy of Lumpy) Pours a clear copper body with a small white head. Aroma reminiscent of a quality vintage English ale with caramel malt, maple, fruit, and spices. Flavor is a bit disappointing in comparison to the aroma; spoiled fruit, caramel, and malt. hopdog (12673) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2007
