Bottle, thanks to tkrjukoff. Amber beer with a beige head. Cherry and oak aroma, some chocolate. Cherry flavor, woody, oaky, sourish, some fruit. A bit thin. mcberko (17815) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 30, 2013
12 oz. bottle, bonus’d by ekoerper (thanks Ed), pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma screams truckloads of cherries - nothing artificial about them - smells like pure, fresh cherries, along with a touch of the oak barrels, though not very prominent. There isn’t really any notice that this is a stout. Flavour brings out potent cherries upfront, atop a more recognizable (than the nose) stout background. There is a thick malt backing that gives the cherries a big body to sit on top of, making it even more complex. Oak barrels round this off beautifully, but intensifying the complexity. This is truly superb. Cherry (or any fruit) stouts have never succeeded to impress me... until now. Most excellent stuff. jtclockwork (16581) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 17, 2010
UPDATED: JUL 5, 2015 Bottle thanks to Rando7. One of the tastiest beers I’ve ever had and definitely the best of this genre. Pours black with reddish hue and a thin reddish white head. Nose is cherry pie and chocolate bar. Taste is out of this world creamy cherry and blends into a smooth chocolate finish. Some tartness and slight black cherry soda adds to the complexity. The body is a little thin and most would rate down for that, but the taste is so phenomenal and this is so much better than other fruit beers I had to score this high. BM me if you can hook me up with more! - Original Rating 5/17/2010 - 4.8 brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 15, 2010
A: The pour is a mildly muddled mahogany color (apologies for the consonance).
S: Pure cherries on the nose. A really nice sweetness and fruit note that is almost reminiscent of the Wisconsin Belgian Red.
T: The cherries come through strongest off the bat and are nice and sweet, but not artificial tasting at all. As the beer warms and subsequent sips are taken, a nice chocolate flavor comes out. This one has an almost tootsie roll taste to it.
M: The body is medium with a nice moderate carbonation to it.
D: One of the best of the Unplugged beers to this point. I really loved the great cherry flavor and the stout component underneath. bhensonb (15188) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 25, 2014

Bottle at Sune’s - Thanks again. Clear red/brown - white edges. High cherry, light balsamic, light wood-glue, woody, sweetness, sweet brown sugar feeling & taste on the lips. Not much stout taste sensation - it reminds a lot of the Enigma !! Ratman197 (14826) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAR 28, 2010
Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of sour pie cherries, spice and light roastines. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of sour cherry, spice, light roastiness and a hint of chocolate withj a smooth dry lingering cherry finish. Scopey (14708) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2013
Bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Colin.. It pours cloudy dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, toast, sweet cherry, red plum, prune and some tanginess. The taste is red grape, cherry, plum, light tartness, sherbet and sugar and sweetish finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Easy-drinking stuff. Alright. djd07 (14471) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle at Camp Beer. Pours a cloudy amber with a small white head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a strong cherry and oak. Thin mouthfeel with a light malt and strong cherry flavor with nice sweet finish. Easy to drink, a very impressive fruit beer from New Glarus. Tmoney99 (14457) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2009

Poured dark brown color and an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate dark cherry and sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy tart cherry sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout beer.
