Heavy milk chocolate smell. Taste is very chocolatey. Aftertaste is like an abbey ale with the chocolate still present. Great beer. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Pours dark brown with a creamy off white head. Smells of chocolate, dark fruit, some cherry hints. Tastes chocolatey with some spicy bites, dark fruit, more chocolate on the finish. Great beer! LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - JAN 9, 2012
Appearance: Pours brown with a tight tan ring around the top.brew3crew (166) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2012
Aroma. Cake batter, chocolate frosting. Confection sugar, light bubble gum. Something right out of Coldstone Creamery.
Taste: Toasty malt, chocolate cereal, delicate green hop, roast and spicy yeast.
Mouthfeel: Peppery fizz , medium bodied.
Overall: An amazing beer. I’ve never had a chocolate beer done this way. Wow.
Chocolate everywhere! On the nose. Very nice chocolate. Lots of it on the tounge. Most chocolate I have had in a beer to this day. Can’t get over it jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 1, 2011
Pours a dark mahogany with a large head of creamy tan foam. Nose is of chocolate and sweet bread. Very creamy, almost foamy, on the palate. Taste is of dark roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Very little hops noted on the finish - yet finish is more dry than sweet. An excellent beer - one that can be enjoyed alone as an after dinner drink or paired with dark meats or grilled foods.

Pours a deep amber/brown color with a huge tan head...outstanding retention and lacing. Aroma is malty with chocolate, caramel and brown sugar...a hint of spice...and a bit of raisin or fig. Flavor has nice dark chocolate without the bitterness, a hint of spice...maybe very faint cinnamon or something...and nice earthy and fruity malt and yeasty notes. Motuhfeel is silky...medium...and the finish is dry with roasty malt and spicy hop notes. Once again, I feel like NG nailed the beer they wanted to make...an excellent dubbel with perfect chocolate notes. AWISLguy (3109) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 7, 2012
On tap at Uncle Mikes. The tender said they aged it 8 months to smooth it out. Pours very black with a chocolate milk head. Spotty lacing. Aroma has chocolate liquour and sweet caramels. If liquid chocolate were gold! Taste is of chocolate pudding and belgian yeasts. Very light compared to the power of the aroma. Finishes short and sweet-ish. Clean and crisp and chocolatey. A dubbel traditionalist would hate it, but I would have again and again - excellent take off of a style. slowrunner77 (12043) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"Best of both worlds in this brew. Decadent chocolate in the nose and flavor. Not very sweet though. Bubble gum and Belgian spice, dry bittersweet finish. All the aspects of this work so well together. Thanks john and Travis for bringing this! joshmcg000 (388) - Iowa, USA - SEP 26, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2011 Pours light brown/copper around the edges. Aroma is chocolate, bananna, and spice. Taste is light chocolate and banana bread. Some bitter/spicy hop notes give it a slight bite but its very drinkable. As it warms a little bit of alcohol taste comes through. It gets better as it warms up, when its cold you loose alot of the complexity. portableparty (2350) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 17, 2011
Bottle. Pours dark copper with a tight foamy kahki head that slowly dissipates to a film. Aroma is big chocolate and banana bread with subtle hints of bubblegum. Taste is definitly less chocolate and more banana bread and bubblegum with a solid spice throughout and bitterness. Palate is thin to medium with plenty of carbonation and finishes dry. Awesome beer!
