A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he choose. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. A provocative 85 IBUs reverberates cleanly through this Double IPA. True hop saturation from kettle boil to dry hop cellaring dominates this elegant and lustful sensory enchantment. You hold a deceptively seductive Original Gravity of 19.2 Plato, now 9% ABV following the always 100% natural bottle fermentation. Luscious English Maris Otter malt is the essential heart of this voluptuous double IPA. Surrender is inevitable so enjoy now.

Pours a mostly clear golden color and topped by a nice thick off-white colored head of foam. The aroma is bursting with citrus fruits and hops atop a backbone of toasted bread malts. The flavor follows suit with the citrus fruit including orange and grapefruit, and balanced out nicely by the toasted malts. The body is nice and full with ample carbonation and hop bitterness that leads to a slight warming finish. As the beer warms up it starts to get a touch boozy, but overall a solid ipa from one of my favorite breweries.

There is so much to like about New Glarus IIPA. It is a lush hop bomb with amazing balance. Pine is most prominent but complexity abounds. Hops are the focus with alcohol and malt adding depth.

jkwalking05 (4734) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 17, 2013
Rated in April 2012 (Backlog) - Gold in color with a small white head. Aroma is of grapefruit, wildflowers and fresh cut grass. Taste is heavy in grapefruit with some grass and pine.

sawbuck (724) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - JUL 14, 2013
Heavy aroma of pine, citrus, and fresh hops. Nice orange gold, with thick white head that stands strong. Nice hoppy pine, with some bitterness in front, balanced well with sweet caramel malt. Finishes with the sweetness of the malt momentarily, then the bitterness from the hops comes in but it is not over powering. Has a nice alcohol hum to it at the end also that warms you up. Not over the top like some double ipas.

Pour is clear golden amber with a bubbly off white head. Nose is hop forward, grapefruit and citrus, a touch sticky, assertive malt backbone with fresh grain. Taste is so hop forward, a touch if sticky resignous hops, strong grapefruit, virtually no bitterness. Carb is a spot light, medium body and fairly dry finish.

12oz, I guess Im a NG Homer (Thanks MBB for this beer btw) but this beer would fall short of my expectations, it makes nothing special for an IIPA just your run of the mill.. the english malt is a nice touch but still falls short of what is out there.

asedzie (824) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 8, 2013
Bottle. Pours golden with medium head. Big flowery hop nose, some resiny pine notes. Flavor is rich malt laced with powerful sticky fresh hop flavors - bursts of crushed pine needles, sharp citrus and juicy peach all surrounded by a lively bitterness and just a little alcohol astringency. Absolutely great wisconsin IPA - with local Wisconsin hops!! - I bet this could go head to head with pliny and win.

callmemickey (4542) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 5, 2013
Lightly hazy golden-orange body, medium sized white head, spotty lacing. Orange, grapefruit, perfumey citrus and floral notes, light malt creeing in. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, a little too sweet in the finish which lingers a bit.

starewich (170) - - JUL 1, 2013
Impressive bitterness balanced with sweet fruitiness, especially grapefruit. Decent double IPA, better than expected.

48FanInCali (851) - California, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Bottle. Not one of NGs better beers. Opaque darker gold pour. Decent head an lacing. Nose and taste are citrus, hops, some malt but not enough. There are just too many other better choices out there but this will do in a pinch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
