I got a chance to hear about Abe, the eagle who flew with the 8th Infantry, while touring the Madison capitol building. That poor guy didnt have much luck in his later years. A fire in the capitol put an end to his days. He was trapped in his cage and inhaled too much smoke. Years later, his taxidermied body was destroyed in a later capitol fire. All of this after surviving battles and bounties placed on his head by Southerners. Anyway, Scream has a tasty Imperial IPA named after him, so Id say he has better fortune. This brew pours orange. Aroma reveals a careful balance between dank hops and caramel malt. Same for the flavor. Tropical fruit notes counterbalanced by toffee-like malt. Theres bitterness but it tastes like less than the 85 IBUs. Its a thick brew that totally buries its ABV. New Glarus makes Imperial IPA as well as they make anything else it seems.

Thanks Virby44 for the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing moderately filtered orange honey with sparse white foam. The nose shows resinous pine intermixed with bready malts; comes together to give a slight leafy note. The palate is light bodied and highly carbonated. Flavors of clean pine with a slightly tart citric note running throughout. Slight alcoholic spiciness and a moderately strong and sharp IPA bitterness on the finish.

Out of the bottle, poured a light copper, clear, with a pillowy off-white head. Bursting with all sorts of hop aromas (resinous pine, floral, citrus). On the palate the malt comes through with caramel sweetness to balance the abundance of hops. I get notes of grapefruit pith and ginger. Complex, creamy and refreshing.

Bottle to snifter. Looks solid; a hazy orange with foamy off-white head. Smells of fruity hops with a moderately bittersweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with some bitter hops as well. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full-bodied and finishes with a touch of unaversive heat. Solid.

Bottle from Greg (gregwilsonstl) -- cheers! Theres a good amount of hops and malt in this, but the main words it left me thinking were "subdued" and "balanced." Very clean taste, with a light, grainy malt profile and enough hops to be a IIPA while still being reasonably restrained. Pleasant, light, and enjoyable.

RBSG 2016 shared at the Grand Tasting after-party in the hotel lobby. Bottle. Honey coloured body, bright grapefruit citrus hop profile, balanced pale malts, assertive bitterness. Very good.

Intense citrus fruits, bitter orange, overripe tropical fruits, passion fruit, resin, pine. Slightly hazy, pale gold, small, creamy, white head. Medium bitter. More, bitter citrus fruits, bitter orange, ripe grapefruit, resin, bitter passion fruit, soft carbonation. Very nice IIPA, not on the league of either coast, but still, very decent. Bottle at The Old Fashioned, Madison, WI.
