Clear dark copper pour with a 3 finger, creamy yellow-beige head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is loaded with a very nice spice blend up front, warm but mellow cinnamon, earthy ginger, maybe some allspice, but I have a harder time picking that out, dried apple and orange peels, lots of toffee and caramel, earthen woody notes and a hint of toasty oak. Flavor is loaded with toffee, warming spice -lots of mellow cinnamon, more ginger than the aroma and possibly some clove, though that could be the allspice- and tons of banana oil up front, then light woody notes, dark chewy caramel, orange peels, overripe apple, light pine and herbal hops. Medium to heavy body with a chewy feel throughout, light to medium, sharp and blanketing carbonation. Good stuff overall, really hits the spot on a cold night. Probably the most warming beer (especially in the stomach) I have had that isn’t ridiculously boozy, spiced with peppers (that I know of) or a complete punch to the face with cinnamon or ginger. This stuff has plenty of cinnamon and ginger, but they didn’t really go crazy with it. It really hits it mark around 55F, at fridge temp the fruity notes just don’t fit well.
Amber to copper in color, with a solid, head of beige bubbles and thick coat of lace. Aromas of dry spice and oak. Light sweet start. Spice and esters in the middle. Nearly comes off as a fermentation flaw as the spice conflicts with the malt. Just not where I think it should be. 7/14

Bottle pour - felt like doing a rating - medium brown with a thick, lasting off white head. Aroma is nice in the sense that its not overdone - the cinnamon is at the forefront, but there’s a nice, general spicy character, offset with some malty notes. Flavor is malt, caramel, biscuit, booze, toffee, and then the notable spice - nothing single pops out, but its pretty solid. Moderate, not heavy body with a lingering mouthfeel. 12 oz. bottle via BA trade. Winter 2014 vintage (January?), although I think that’s the only bottling to date. Pours a hazy orange color with a moderate off-white head that forms a lasting cap atop the liquid and leaves a few spots of lace in the glass. Notes of ginger, allspice, cinnamon, brown sugar, sweet malt, oak, and some boozy fruitcake-like malts as it warms. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, spicy mouthfeel. 12oz bottle, thanks to phaleslu for sharing. He says it’s a 2014 season bottle. Nice nice oak evident in the nose, orange peel. Hazy orange amber color. Thin khaki head. Leaves great thicker lace. Lots of great oak in the flavor. Nice bit of vanilla, toffee. Awesome that the cinnamon is very mild here, much more malt character. Medium to bigger body, definitely drinks a bit bigger. Like 8%, I’d guess. Good full feel to it. Very mild slick. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, very mild warmth. Nice bit of ginger to it. Lots of oak and vanilla in the aroma along with a bit of smoke and cinammon; hazy orange color, frothy beige head; vanilla, oak, toffee, and notes of bourbon, spice is very subtle, but there’s something more there than just malts and hops, some alcohol vents in the finish; medium body, soft texture; not sure of the alcohol but it?s sizeable, very good overall and I’m enjoying it more and more with each sip.

Bottle. Colour...hazy amber with a thick head. Nose...very spicy! Especially, sweetly spicy and teeming with pie spice. Bottle from rosskyle. Light copper with thick bubbly white head. Really nice spice aroma that features dark spice. Soft resin and light hop with well balanced spice throughout. Finishes fast and clean for a spice beer. A little bit of funk as well. Pretty good.
