UPDATED: DEC 31, 2014 Poured into a snifter. Literally 0 degrees outside at the moment. Beautiful deep burnt orange. Medium fluffy white head reducing to a small lasting topping. Nicely carbonated. Sticky lace. Aroma is complex.. malty, sweetness, toffee, fruity, spices, lighter peat. Flavor follows nose. Medium body. Creamy and smooth. Noticeable alcohol warming in mouth and belly. Malty then spicy then hop bitter. Clean flavorful finish. Not a model of the style but a delicious well made beer. ChiGuy68 (616) - Illinois, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Tasted from a 12oz. bottle. Poured with a healthy initial head and continuous carbonation. Rich amber color with a pleasant aroma. A smooth tasting Scotch Ale. rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 15, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 22, 2015 Thanks to iNBe. Rich toffee flavors quite smooth too. Not too hoppy. Amber with a frothy head. Quite nice. Serving: Bottle Ratman197 (15372) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, apple, pear, orange zest and apricot. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, apricot, apple, orange zest and light spice with a crisp lingering fruity finish. A very tasty beer, but I would never guess it was a Scotch Ale. heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Thanks for the bottle, Mark! A deep copper colored brew with a fluffy slightly yellow tinted head. A big malty sweet and boozy nose with notes of caramel. There is also some wood and hay. Notes of booze at the front with some warming toffee. There is definitely some cereal grain. The finish is husky and dry with notes of Granny Smith apples. Tasty and smooth, this is well made.

Pours dark hazy copper with nice white fluffy whitehead. Aroma is very nice sweet caramel with some fruitiness. Medium body with a smooth creamy texture and lots of carbonation. Some hoppy bitterness up front almost tingles on your tongue. Caramel / toffee little roasty and lots of spice almost peppery. And it does have a nice alcohol burn as the name implies. Not really like most scotch ales I have had, but I probably like it better than most Scotch ales I’ve had. Liked this quite a bit and hope it comes back in the future. mar (5444) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Orange/amber with a cream head. Nose is caramel, toffee, sweet malts, sugar, light smoke, and sweet. Smooth palate, heavy caramel, sweet, smoke, caramel finish. arnold931 (1264) - Iowa, USA - APR 3, 2014
Bottle. Clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head that dissipates quickly. Mild nose of toffee. Nice sweet flavor. Nice finish. 17thfloor (2444) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2014
This is fantastic. Body and appearance are basically perfect for style... the German-esque attention to detail makes this English-style beer really shine. Rich malt presence that is perfectly attenuated leaving a nice toasted sugar finish, light hopping that compliments the strong alcohol. Nice and nutty aroma. Color me impressed. I’m guessing lager temperatures are what is paying off here.
