Proud family traditions of Weyermann Malting and New Glarus Brewing co unite in this classic country lager bred in the Baavarian style. Painstaking efforts created the floor malted Bohemian malts that blend seamlessly and exclusively with German Hallertau Mittlefrueh hops.
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2010 500ml bottle scooped up from the brewery in April of 2010. Straw yellow-gold color, big foamy white head. Brewery fresh doughy malt and noble hop aroma. Creamy and soft, this is quite an excellent Pilsner, very European feeling. Though it appears filtered, there is still a good amount of creamy yeast flavor. Exceptional balance, really just nails the style. Clean on the palate, maybe on the lighter side of medium bodied. The hops are still fresh and earthy, a trait rarely seen in German or Czech beers stateside. World class.
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2010 500ml brought back from a brewery run by my man MrPickles - Pours light amber with a huge white head. Smells fresh and crisp, with light, crackery malt, floral hops, and some honey sweetness. Nicely balanced and very clean smelling. Taste is light, bready malt with the same sweetness and floral hop profile that produces a lightly bitter finish, along with some intriguing spiciness. Not sure where that came from, but it compliments the beer nicely. It’s smooth and terribly easy to drink, with nice carbonation. I drank both my bottles pretty much right when I got them, and found myself taking big gulps rather than savoring. It’s just so easy to drink. Wish this came in six packs, because I could drink tons of it. Nicely done. UPDATE - 9/3/2010 - Had this several times since the release and I appreciate it more and more. So clean, so well-balanced, and the floral hops are just so pleasant. Wonderful stuff.
