COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, this beer is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. A complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and cherries. Unlined Oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beaten path.
2006 vintage - 7%
2010 vintage - 5.5% (separate entry)
You can tell the vintages apart as the 2010 bottles have the © symbol to the left of the UNPLUGGED banner while the 2006 does not.

Enigma pours a clear red copper color with a white head of small bubbles. Scent is of cherries and cloves. Taste is sweet but acrid finishing quite tart. not exactly sour but very very cherry tart with a hint of woodyness. Body is lively. This Beer is very interesting. Not what I thought a sour beer would be like. a pleasant surprise.

2017 vintage. Pours a deep reddish brown from the bottle with bubbly tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of dark fruit notes, acetic sour, and sweet maltiness. Taste is even more complex, nice acidic front end, cherries and plums in the middle, vanilla oak in the finish. A bit sweet, but very nice.

From a bottle, pours a reddish brown with a tan head. The smell is roasted dark malt, cherries, sweet and sour. The taste is wood, dark roasted malt, sour cherries with some chocolate and a tart, sour, dry ending. Light+ in body with average carbonation. I don’t like this vintage as much as previous but it’s still quite tasty.

12floz bottle not marked, but this is the 2017 vintage. Poured into a tulip glass, where little head develops. Color is dark garnet, and the aroma brings the hard candy, sour funk that I expect. Sweet and sour, but the sourness is foremost. The tart cherry flavor is supported by a good malt backbone, making the body lively, yet controlled. A pretty good sour brown that is worth a try, and perhaps look for in the future.
