English aristocracy flaunted their wealth saving barley wines for exclusive friends. Our Iced Barley Wine is an intense brew of 28.5 degrees Plato OG. Frozen in the cellars over a powerful twelve week fermentation. You hold an elegant riot of bittersweet sherry and dark fruit earthy notes. Warm and expansive it will fill your senses. Great for contemplative sipping now or lay down for an elegant occasion with friends.

My Bottom Line:
Caramelized cereals lean into burning alcohol before firm resinous bitterness latches on this super clean and liquorous Barley Wine.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slim veil of foam covers the hazy dark red.
-The crystal malts flavors are also lightly toasted.
-Some fruit appears, but is not clearly defined.
-The body is expectedly round, but is not too heavy considering this gravity.

Bottle thanks to Gibson. Pours a cloudy brown with a small off white head. The aroma is vanilla, oak, candy sugar, booze. Thick body, candy sugar, vanilla, wood, boozy finish, very nice.

Bottle from MOTOTODDHEAD. THANKS! A: Dark mahogany bordering on black. Foamy creme colored head. N: Toffee, a little oxidation, some caramel, burnt cherry, fig and raisin, prune. Sherry and brandy. Peppercorn and earth. Damp leaves and a hint of cardboard. Saw dust and a touch of cola. T: Still quite sweet, but it is breaking down a little. M: Heavy, oily body, tingly carbonation, some alcohol. O: This reminds me quite a bit of Pelicans Mother of All Storms. Still holding up, but I would drink it if you got it. Mine is starting to oxidize with a hint of cardboard, and I cant imagine it will get much better. (My last bottle was extremely oxidized.)

manages to be both sweet and hoppy, but more sweet in the end. a thoroughly enjoyable barleywine for a more than reasonable price, too! "bittersweet sherry" from the label is a spot on description, a little hop kick before a sweet finish. Nice smooth full mouthfeel."

Sampled at ESBLS. It poured a copper color with a beige head. The aroma was of caramel, cherry and light alcohol. The taste was sweet, with caramel, some alcohol and faint cherry. Very nice.

Sampled at esbls. Clear and mid brown. Minimal beige ring. Raisin in the nose with some chocolate. It tastes hot. Big malts and some harshness. Heat. Darker pitted fruit. Expected oxidation.

From notes, bottle received in one of my first trades. Sweet dark fruity, caramels, a bit of a vineous component. Touch high on the booze, but a tasty beer.

Bottle - Vintage 2009 - Sweet toffee and booze. Clear caramel and no head. Toffee, chocolate, candy and a little booze and heat on the throat. A wicked and strong beer.

A- Pours a deep, muddy, mahogany hue with little to no head. S- Extremely sweet, lots of brown sugar, dark fruits. T- Sweet, brown sugar, figs with a harsh bitterness / alochol burn at the end. Fairly dry. M- Thick with medium carbonation. D- This was an extremely enjoyable brew to sip on. I split the bottle and think half is all I could handle at a time but I really enjoyed it.
