COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Do not waste time attempting to box this brew into some esoteric guide to styles. This is Dan’s bold creation. His passion for unfiltered Weiss collides with Cascade Hops inventing our Imperial Hefe-Weizen. Dry hopping boldly rules over Wisconsin red wheat and our special strain of Bavarian yeast. At almost 20 O.P. this is the super mac daddy of Weiss beers. Decoction mashing was followed by excessive dry hopping to create a fierce onslaught of clove, cinnamon and citrus all in this living beer. Don’t bother waiting to enjoy - the time is now.

Pours murky gold with an orangy hue. A one inch head of white fluff settled down to a full skim-coat on the surface. Smeared lacing with errant dots remained for the duration. Aromatics lead off with a blast of bannana skins, lemon zest, orange rinds, and doughy yeast. Clovey phenols, quanine, grapefruit pith, and vanilla bubble gum follow through. Medium bodied, with a crisp, creamy and lush mouthfeel. Expansive carbonation adds a nice liveliness. Tart wheat, lemon pulp, light malt, and juniper berries start the palate. Bitter orange pith, spruce bark, cut grass, and grapefruit seeds step forward. Finishes with a firm and quite drying bitterness, a lingering citric twang, mild alcohol, and an earthy fade. Wowza, quite a bit going on here, especially after the brew warms up. Pretty well hopped up too. Highly drinkable but far from boring. Big ups to BA goethean for opportunity.

From May 2008 I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John! This pours a cloudy orange yellow with a huge 3 finger, ever growing, head of foam. Lots of lacing and bubbles here and the head retention is very very good. This is a very nice looking brew in my glass. The smell is very complex with notes of banana, wheat, clove, and some lemon. The taste is as good as the smell! Plenty of banana and clove followed closely by a nice wheat flavour and some lemon hoppy goodness which, btw, just adds a bit of bittereness and is no way near in control and that's how it should be. Nice. Oh, did I mention there's quite a bit of caramel sweetness here as well? I didn't? My bad. Another thing that impresses me is that this is 9.6%abv...I would have never guessed!! It's medium bodied, the carbonation starts of very lively but settles down after a while, and it finishes with another nice kick of clove, lemon, and banana. I'm really impressed with this souped up Hefeweizen and I give kudos out to New Glarus for brewing it, and Wasatch again for sending it my way!

Awesome pour with a nice rocky head. Cloudy orange in color with bright carbonation. Aromas are out of control with pepper, lemon, piney hops, and the classic bubblegum yeast. The taste follows with bright citrus up front followed by some musty hops and an effervescence that carries the flavors away. It’s both what I imagined a imperial weizen to be and at the same time it is completely without boundaries. Very good!

Nicely done. Some citrus and a hint of smoke. Some light sugary malt and a little booze. Pours hazy orange with decent head and some floaties. Light sweet finish with some malty tang. Nice stuff, and great for style. Touch of banana. Bottle thanks to arminjewell.

Smell was hoppy with mild banana and pineapple notes. Taste was mild hops, alcohol, and the usual weizen notes. Tastes like someone spilled an IPA into a hefeweizen.

Unbelievably good. Not generally wiezen fan but this one takes it to new level. Huge cloves loved that characteristic, no real banana which is perfect. Some lemon some yeast and dough. Big ABV but not noticeable. I. Flavor that is, did get me pretty buzzed.

12oz. bottle from brewery. Aroma of clovey spice, banana, lemon citrus, some herbal and floral tinges, lemongrass, slight pepper, some wheat grain and faint honey. Cloudy, dark golden in color with an exceedingly foamy, sticky, lasting head, off-white, with lacing to match. Flavor profile is strongly yeasty, plenty of spice, esters, pepper, dough, etc. with some lemon citrus, very faint sweetness, breadiness, as well as some medicinal alcohol present late. Mouthfeel is highly effervescent, warming and active, gently acidic and features a nicely full body. Interesting and tasty.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass and shared with Kristy K at the condo. Hazy orange with a thin off-white head but excellent lacing. Aroma is yeast, wheat, clove, green apple, bubblegum, and citrus. Taste is classic hefeweizen with clove, banana, and bread sweetness plus some citric hoppy bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, boozy and phenolic on the finish.

"6/09-the hops weren’t what i was hoping for in this imperial dry hopped weizen, but i see the last review for this bad boy was some time ago, so maybe they were there and have since died a long slow death? still a good beer, but based on the hoppy Crack’d Wheat, I wanted more out of this. It was more yeasty and sweet with the hops barely making an appearance in the back. Some sediment, great full mouthfeel, fruity, cloves, big flavor, but didn’t detect the nearly dbl digit alcohol. not bad, but i was maybe more excited than i should have been."

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with huge pillowy white head that leaves tons of lacing. Nose is clove, coriander and a bit of funk. Lots of carbonation in the mouthfeel. Bock sweetness comes through in the taste. Leaves my lips and tongue numb!
