COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Generally available to the exclusive few who travel off the beaten path of Belgium this is truly a sour ale. A ridiculously long lager in in our oak casks elevates rich round caramel malts backed with distinctive tart notes.

Bottle shared at BBF’14 - thank you to the kind soul who brought this. Pours hazy brown with amber hue, no head. Nice malty characteristics, balanced by sweet vinegar (balsamic alike), caramel. Nice acidity compared to the sweetness. Subtle taste of cherries, balsamic vinegar and bready malt, all in a very subtle way. Like this beer.

Bottle at ratebeer tasting at CBC. Pours clear brown with a small yellow head. Heavy funk, hay and shortbread on the nose. Some biscuit and funk in the taste. Light earthiness and hay. Light bitterness on the finish, quite sweet as well. Very easy going. Not bad at all

brokensail (16648) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 14, 2012
Amber in color with a finger of off-white head. A slight vinegar note along with a hint of raspberry and red wine vinegar. Some oak and vanilla notes to it as well. The flavor is rather simple. Fairly acetic with red wine and balsamic vinegar notes. Some dark fruit notes and maybe a little bit of wood/oak.

Traded bottle about a year old or so. Pretty still pour with no real head. Big sour aroma initially and then some fruit and malt. Nice mix of sour cherries and some earthy, oak. Gotta say I really like this and would love some more.

Bottle generously shared by BenC...thanks Ben! - Rosy amber pour with a thin ring of tan head. Sherry sweetness on the nose, with some faint cherry. Caramelly and malty with just a hint of ginger and bit of a tart twang. I can’t imagine this is anything close to the aroma fresh, but it’s interesting. Black cherry taste, deep and dark and overripe. Luscious. The malt is still pretty firm and the sourness comes through more on the finish. Sweet all the way through, but not over the top. A bit fizzy and thin, but wow has this held up well. What I wouldn’t give for a six-pack.
