Pulled this one out of cellar collection. Picked it up nearly 2 years ago. Bottled date reads 012116. Todays date is 1/20/18. Picked it up back then just because it was different. Did not have high expectations for it. Poured from bottle into tulip glass. Beer is very dark black in color. Thin light tan head. Some lacing remains for a while. Aroma is surprisingly light but mainly chai. Taste is mostly medium sweet with a very faint bitterness. Very smooth. Full bodied beer. Notes of chocolate, vanilla and chai. The 11% ABV is well covered. For as strong and complex of a beer this is fairly easy drinking. The chai matches very well with the dark malt and barrel character. This beer has surprised me and exceeded my expectations.

Pours black with a thin tan head. The aroma is of the vanilla chai, almost a cross between pepperment and clove. Taste follows the nose almost pepperminty definitely a different flavor but really really good. This is a real unique tasting Barrel aged Stout with vanilla and I would recommend anyone to try it if they can grab hold of a bottle.

Rating #2520 - 2016.05.04 - Draught at Bru in Philly. Beautiful dark brown pour with a decent head that lasts. Aroma is vanilla, oak, chai spice. Palate is more of the same, lots of burnt sugar sweetness, cocoa. A little too much residual sweetness for this fella, but a lovely IS variant.

Considering that a bourbon barrel-aged stout is going to take on a vanilla character from the barrel, vanilla chai spices are an unusual addition because, to be honest, I couldn’t tell the difference the addition made in the final product. Maybe a fuller vanilla aroma and body and sweeter taste? That’s what it seemed like to me. High ABV is not apparent (though I did stop after one bottle). Bottled 01-21-16 and consumed after about 18 months.

This was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave. Poured black with a tan head. Nose of vanilla and chocolate. Full body and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, and some chai spice. Finished with some light bitterness and good chai zip. Excellent, really good.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a 1 1/2 finger cola head. Aroma is chai spice with slight bourbon and roasty malts. Taste is an artificial chai taste followed by a sweet vanilla/oak flavor with roasted malts. Mouthfeel is medium-thin. Overall, a decent adjunct stout, but not the best from New holland. Worth trying once, but not worth chasing.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown/black color with a weak flimsy head. Aromas show me cinnamon, vanilla, oak. No bourbon at all.

Speaking of flimsy, for a 11 % stout this has the thinnest body I have tasted since the last time I sampled Dragon Milk variants. Flavor is mostly toasted cinnamon, vanilla chai and chocolate. Very weak bourbon in the backend the finish. Also displays a moderate herbal/spiciness that lingers. This would be much better if the body was more like a true imperial stout. And a tad less on the chai.

Bottle shared by Tom - thanks! Dark dense pour. Rich vanilla, nutmeg, tea on the nose. Slick semi-sweet taste. Some bourbon. Wonderful.

12 oz bottle. Pours with a good beige head over an opaque near black body. I’m a big fan of Dragon’s Milk but not of chai. Not surprisingly then, I like this less than the original and some of the other variants. It is, nonetheless, very good, and it’s almost exactly what I would expect. There’s an obvious but not overpowering contribution of chai spices and vanilla, with the base Dragon’s Milk clearly present. Flavor = 8.5.
