Had on tap at Heorot and also bought a bottle and enjoyed a few days later. There is really no difference in taste between each of the two ways. This is one of the strongest bourbon-influenced stouts that I have had so far, which is saying quite a lot. The aroma is oozing of bourbon and chocolatey goodness, and the color is approaching complete darkness upon pour. From the initial smell you would believe it to be very pungent with its bourbon taste, almost to an overwhelming state, but it really isn’t. Other than a slight (very slight) dip in aftertatse, this is a terrific bourbon barrel stout.
On tap at the source during GLBTQ. Crew in tow. Tulip glass. Dark black in color with minimal tan head. Aroma features chocolate and coffee notes. Maybe a light hint of scotch-like peat. Taste is sweet and boozy but not with a traditional bourbon barrel aged alcohol burn. Some dark fruit like raisins coming through. Plenty of dark chocolate at the finish. Lingers well. Doesn’t feel all that different from an imperial stout despite the bourbon barrel aged claims. Good rendition but this dragon feels tamed. DougsBeer (4) - Nebraska, USA - JUN 11, 2017 does not count

Dark brown in color with a pillowy head of light brown foam. Baking chocolate, light vanilla, and bourbon surround full bodied caramel malt. One of the gateway barrel beers I like to call it.

Pours black with a thick khaki head. Smell of roasted malts imbued with bourbon and alcohol scents. Taste is malty with chocolate and coffee. Slight alcohol taste in the middle. On draft at a local Yard House. Very milk chocolate, sweet bourbon, slight caramel with some herbal notes on the end. Malted milk chocolate balls?? Not much heat, very little roast, slight brown tinge on the appearance as well. avast ye! forth ith a stout that yon maiden fair and true doth declareth "good." it has a dark onyx pour and a choco alco nose. The bourbon barrel flavoring is firing on all "barrels" here, very tasty, less smoky, and with a lot of malt and mocha notes to boot. All in all, recommended for fans of the style and those inclined to try it out. Good for grooving to the Best Show while cooking the Best Mac and Cheese! Phantastisch! Schöne Trockenfrüchte im Geruch, ein schokoladiger Geschmack, in dem man den Burbon durchaus herausschmeckt.
