COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Sweet smokey bourbon smell. Taste is thick with bourbon supported by sweet slightly buttery rich malt flavor. Ends with slight Booze and bourbon flavor. Excellent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2017 dang love this beer. 11% abv goes unnoticed, which is nice. Nothing overpowering here just a smooth drinking stout full of flavor, great beer for a cold winter night

Very dark appearance with minimal head. Aroma has a slight vanilla smell but is not overly powerful. Taste is very smooth with hints of bourbon in the aftertaste. A very drinkable stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the 12 oz. bottle with a bottling date of 09/13/17. Deep dark brown to jet black pour under a slowly fading mocha or tan head. Big baked chocolate sensations in the aroma along with dark toasted bread, Bourbon booze, a little cherry all with a low to no hop profile. Full smooth body. As this one warms the complex sweet chocolate and alcohol characteristics begin to merge. Still a richness to it. The bitterness at the end expresses more of a chocolate note. This has to be a sipper.

Bottle @ Whole Foods, Irvine, California. Dark as molasses. Smells of dark fruits, roast, mocha, dark chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Tastes of the same...absolutely delicious! Alcohol is well-hidden. One of the best Imperial Stouts i've ever had. Memorable, too, as it was the night before i got to see Grace VanderWaal in concert, for the first time, at The Troubadour, in West Hollywood, and it's what i celebrated the occasion with. This was the "Bourbon Barrel-aged" variety.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2017 "Bourbon-Barrel Aged" Dragon's Milk 12oz bottled 8/30/2017 11% ABV poured into pilsner glass. I see this page has become a collection of several variants of this beer, but I am only reviewing this one that I have tasted. I am not getting 'boozy' if that means alcoholic or burning, but I get bourbon flavor without alcoholic burn and no bitter hops. I could guzzle this 11% ABV, but prefer to savor the flavors. Velvety smooth bourbon oak with vanilla malt on top of caramel and chocolate. Among my favorite stouts.

"Bourbon-Barrel Aged" Dragon's Milk. Bottle from Brewtopia. Dark dark brown with ring. Boozy vanilla earthy woody cola aroma. Medium-heavy vanilla chocolate coffee fig caramel sweetness with medium woody ashy bitterness with lots of residual vanilla chocolate and booze and fruit. Medium-heavy body low carbo. Decent enough. A sipper. But I prefer a regular imp stout with a nice aroma and texture, like Ten Fidy.

From Apr 2008 I got this in a trade with joe1510. Thanks Joe! This pours a very dark brown with reddish highlights and about a 1 finger head of tannish foam. Average head retention but it does have some nice lacing. The smell is dominated by caramel malt but I also get some roasted malt, vanilla, and wood. Pretty nice nose. The taste has notes of caramel and roasted malt, toffee, a real oaky flavour, and a bit of dark fruit but mostly caramel and toffee and it's hitting my taste buds nicely. Oh, now I'm noticing a bit of vanilla; it's stronger in the smell than in the taste. The body is thinner than I expected though it is quite creamy, carbonation is on the low side, and the abv is hidden pretty well. Because of it's smoothness, I find it quite drinkable.. a very nice American Strong Ale indeed. I'd drink it again.

Where Purchased: 600ml bottle from Meijer in Michigan Consumed: from a chalice Aroma: Smells sugary, chocolaty and slightly boozy. Appearance : filtered dark brown that light cannot penetrate. Decent head at the beginning that disappears quick into no lacing. Taste: VERY sweet. Hints of smoke and bourbon. Slight booze taste. Palate : heavy body. Sweet lingering aftertaste. Low carbonation. Overall: it was a full bodied and complex beer. I would not have suspected it was a beer with 11% ABV. I was glad to try but probably will not buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.
