Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

A: Pours black with a finger of tan head that fades into a frothy ring with a little lacing. S: Roasted malts, semi-sweet cocoa, and vanilla dominate with some oak and bourbon aromas underneath. T: Roasted malts here as well with some dark chocolate and vanilla flavors. The oak and bourbon are more present in the flavor with some notes of burnt sugar and caramel. The finish is lightly boozy. M: Medium-thick body with moderate carbonation, this beer is a bit more carbonated and lighter in body than many barrel aged stouts, but it avoids being overly carbonated or too watery. O: An enjoyable beer overall and one of the more underrated stouts out there. It's not really on the same level as the best barrel aged stouts, but it's also a lot more reasonably priced and accessible than most examples. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque deep brown colour with one finger of lasting head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, toffee and a hint of bourbon. Taste matches the aroma with caramel backbone with a mildly dry finish. Full bodied with a creamy and sticky texture. Medium carbonation. High alcohol content well concealed. Excellent Imperial Stout.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2017 Draft at Brass Tap in Fl. Damn good bourbon barrel beer. Can't say tasted like a stout but who cares.

Draft pour appearing basically black with a small glistening brown head. Rich brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon soaked oak notes are present in the nose and tasted. Thick in body, yet smooth feeling for a beer of this magnitude. Very satisfying as a 2nd tier BA stout.

Bottle from World Market. Super deep ruby to black in color. Roasty sweet nose with some bourbon. Strong bourbon up front with roasty malts. Some wood and vanilla as well. Thick mouthfeel. Very barrel flavored. The stout portion is in the background.

I like bourbon and I like beer, this is a beautiful mix of the two. Smooth and flavorful. It is not overpowering with taste but you certainly know what you are drinking. Nicely crafted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pure black pour with a brown head. A very creamy and milky flavour, aptly named, imperial milk stout. Mixture of bourbon and caramel in the finish, yum.

Powerful stuff. Strong-smelling, near black pour. There's definitely a hint of the bourbon. Slightly fizzy - fizzier than most stouts - but without a whole lot of head.

Bottle. Pitch black with a quickly fading light beige foamy head. Aroma is of dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, figs, biscuit. Taste is of dark chocolate, figs, dark fruits, liquorice, vanilla, caramel. Sticky oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

Bomber from the Hwy 2 road trip. Aroma is chocolate, wood, mint, licorice, earth, raisin, vanilla. Pours black with a thin tan head. Taste is sweet and woody, with flavors matching the aroma; bourbon is noticeable. Too much oak influence in both aroma and flavor for me to really get into this.

Straight forward black Imperial Stout, full body, bourbon undertones, roast, chocolate and strong alcohol are all parts of a well brewed beer. Long time coming me trying Dragon’s Milk.
