COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dragonís Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

This was pretty pricey ($16 for a 4-pack where I live), it better be good. I have heard great things about this one; finally decided to try it myself. Dragonís Milk pours dark brown instead of black and it looks more like a porter than a stout. It has a very light tan head. Different looking than my favorite stouts, so Iím docking it a few points there. Biased for sure, but Itís my review. The aroma is a little light for such a big stout. There is some cappuccino, bourbon sweetness, malt, black licorice and dark chocolate. Good smell, but I was expecting stronger. The taste is a perfect mash-up of a milk stout (is that why itís called Dragonís Milk?) and a coffee stout. Think of a watered down version of your favorite bourbon barrel aged stout. The palate was disappointing. Watery, thin with an aftertaste of coffee bitterness and not much else. This brew is exceedingly drinkable for 10% ABV, but I donít feel that itís worth the money. Good, not great. If I were RB, I wouldnít give it a 98. More like an 85.

Tap at Flying Saucer Emporium, Memphis. Colour is almost black with very small slightly brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Some bourbon, some vineous elements, some berries, chocolate and roasted malts. Not massive, pretty easy BBA but I like drinkability.

Hmmm...yeah this is amazing. So lets talk about the aroma. Massive amounts of boozy bourbon, caramel, vanilla and coconut. Sweet chocolate and oh just loads more bourbon. Probably the most bourbon Iíve ever smelled in a stout. Tastes like a glass of chocolate, charred, chicory, vanilla caramel bourbon. Itís so complex but works so flawlessly together. You can pull out each individual note and itís wonderful. I have to be honest, at 7.99 a bottle....I donít think you can honestly compare to this. Itís really hard to wrap my head around because currently people would pay stupid amounts of money for a bb stout that tastes this good and itís way better than most they would pay for. Canít talk this one up enough, itís literally amazing.

The good part of 10 years in cold cellaring with 9% abv stated on this bomber, poured to a tulip displaying good clarity to the darkest brown color, with some ruby highlighting, frothy, brownish tan head foam, and foamy dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was roasted, cocoa, malt sweetness, dark caramel, toffee. and a touch of vanilla. The taste was as the aroma notes, medium to full bodied, with carbonation that retained some noticeable spritz, complemented the roasted & earthy bitterness, and alcohol that was well incorporated at this point, and expressed some lingering warmth. No tannic or oaky overtones, but a smooth, and slightly silky texture that finished similarly. Impressive longevity for a quality product!

Bottle (1 pint 6 oz). Pours dark brown-black with light tan head. Nose of vanilla, cream, and a hint of alcohol. Vanilla and cream upfront followed by chocolate notes in the finish. Little noticeable alcohol for a beer with 11% ABV. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled in September 2016, 12oz poured into a snifter: Almost black with a few bubbles. Boozy, chocolate aroma with smoke and vanilla. Bittersweet chocolate flavor, warm, with a woody bite. Slick, full mouthfeel with soft carbonation. It finishes with sweet caramel/ toffee flavor.
